Aston, PA --  The Reading Royals announced earlier today the signing of Little Flyers EHL Alumni Austin Master for the 2023-24 season.  The Royals are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers and AHL’s Leigh Valley Phantoms in their system of development.

Master, a native of Broomall Pennsylvania played for the Little Flyers during the 2018-19 season that saw the club put up a staggering 40-3 record during the EHL regular season.  Playing in 49 total games that season, Master’s name was all over the league leaders in offensive categories where he finished 3rd in goals with 33, 4th in assists with 47, 2nd in total points with 80 and led the league in power play goals with 17.  “This is a great day for Austin and his family as he signs his first professional hockey contract with the Reading Royals, everyone here in the Little Flyers organization couldn’t be happier for him” said Little Flyers EHL Head Coach and General Manager Mark Catron.  “Austin is a great representation of our team and the EHL not only as a hockey player but as a human being and hard-working young man in all aspects of his life.  He had a very successful career with us and then moved onto the NCAA level where he was a difference maker from Day one at Stevenson University under Coach Dawes.  Last year he earned one of the greatest opportunities a hockey player can receive when he represented the United States at the World University Games in Lake Placid”.

After the 2018-19 season, Master committed to Stevenson University located in Owings Mills, Maryland.  As a four-year player, Austin finished his time with the Mustangs as the second leading scorer in program history with 87 points and second in career goals with 30.  He earned many accolades in his time with the Mustangs including MAC Rookie of the Year (2019-20), All-MAC first team (2022-23), All-MAC Second Team (2019-20), All-UCHC Second Team (2022-23) and UCHC All-Rookie Team (2019-20) and was the captain of the program his senior season.  Capping off a tremendous collegiate career was the opportunity to represent The United States of America as a part of the National Team in the 2023 World University Games.  Master made his presence felt in the tournament, scoring 3 goals and adding 2 assists in seven games while bringing home a Silver Medal as a part of Team USA.  This was the first U.S. team in University Games History to be made up of all NCAA Division III players.

On behalf of the entire Little Flyers organization, we’d like to congratulate Austin on his signing and wish him the best of luck with the Royals.
