Each day from now until Christmas we will sit down and talk to members of the Little Flyers Eastern Hockey League Junior Team to discuss the holiday season.  On day twenty five we have a special treat as we talked with Little Flyers Chairman & President John Giacobbo (JG), Little Flyers EHL General Manager & Head Coach Rocky Russo (RR)  and Little Flyers EHL Assistant Coach George Lewis (GL).

  1.  Favorite thing about Christmas or Winter?
JG:  Christmas Eve, getting the family together and celebrating the Feast of the Seven Fishes

RR: Getting the opportunity to get back to Ohio to see my family, my sisters, my nieces and nephews and getting to see my newest niece Juliana who was just born

GL: Every year my Mom hosts the family so I get to see all my aunts, uncles and cousins
  2. Favorite Christmas tradition growing up as a kid?
JG: Getting to open one gift on Christmas Eve

RR: The traditional Italian Christmas Eve with the seven fishes, but on Christmas Eve morning my dad and I cruise around town delivering Christmas presents to our family and friend, getting to see some people I don’t normally get to see during the year

GL: On Christmas Eve we get the family together for Mass, then go out and get something to eat and exchange some presents
  3. What are you looking forward to most this holiday season?
JG: Being with my whole family on Christmas Eve and Christmas day

RR: Just being back home with the family to enjoy some time together

GL: Some time getting away from watching opponent pre scout film on my laptop
  4. Favorite Christmas Food?
JG: Everything we eat on Christmas Eve, the good Italian food especially the Calamari and Peas Gravy

RR: My dad makes fantastic Cranberry biscotti but his linguine and clams is what I look forward to most

GL: My dad and little sister make some really good chocolate chip cookies every Christmas
  5. Favorite Christmas Movie?
JG: Miracle on 34th Street, the original version

    RR: Home Alone

GL: The Santa Clause with Tim Allen
  6. Favorite Christmas Song?
JG: Nat King Cole The Christmas Song

RR: Rockin Around the Christmas Tree

GL: The intense Trans-Siberian Orchestra song
  7. Most Memorable Christmas?
JG: In 1984 when our first son, John, was born on December 3rd

RR: When I was about 8 years old, it was two days before Christmas and my dad picked me up from hockey practice and opened up the side door of his work van to show me I had brand new hockey equipment from head to toe

GL: When I was 6 or 7 years old I got Nintendo 64 and I was pretty fired up about that
  8. Best gift you’ve ever received?
JG: Getting my first pair of goalie pads

RR: That Christmas was the best, nothing is better than new skates

    GL: The N64
  9. Worst gift you’ve ever received?
JG: I’ve never received a bad gift

RR: When I was younger I asked for a stick and my uncle thought it would be funny to grab a stick out of the backyard, put a bow around it and give it to me for Christmas, then a few days later he gave me the real hockey stick

GL: Looking back now it wasn’t that bad at all but when I was a kid, getting socks was bad
  10. Do you shop early or last minute?
    JG: Last minute

RR: I’ve transitioned from being a last minute shopper to a little bit of an early shopper, but if my dad is reading this I still don’t know what to get my dad and still haven’t gotten him anything yet

    GL: Last minute
  11. Hardest person in your family to shop for?
    JG: My Wife

RR: My Dad, I always try to get him something golf related but I’ve done that for the last few birthdays and Christmases so this year is going to be tough

    GL: Dad
  12. If you had to pick either Kevin McCallister from Home Alone or Ralphie from a Christmas story to play on a line with?
JG: I’m using Joey Savel’s answer “Kevin McCallister, that guy is slippery, he’d be all over the ice”

RR: As much as I love Ralphie, Kevin McCallister is a silent assassin, he had the plan to attack those guys in Home Alone 1, but he had blue prints of his aunt’s house in New York for Home Alone 2 and a plan to take Harry and Marv down so I need Kevin on my line, that’s a guy that will be in the dirty areas for sure

GL: I like Home Alone better so Kevin McCallister, he’s always up to something
  13. Hot Chocolate or Egg Nog?
    JG: Hot Chocolate

    RR: Hot Chocolate

    GL: Hot Chocolate
  14.  If you could get one gift this year what would it be?

JG: Being able to spend more time with my family

RR: I’d love for all of my players to be able to advance on to the next level and reach all of their goals in the future

GL: Get some of my bills paid
