Aston, PA - - The Philadelphia Little Flyers EHL Premier team was on the road this past weekend for two South Conference Games.  Saturday, the team traveled to New Jersey for a game against the Wildcats.

Kolin Grogesky, got the start in net for the visiting Little Flyers.  Philadelphia’s offense struck early with a goal from defenseman Eric Maard.  While playing 4-on-4 Savay Thompson won a face-off in the offensive zone back to Maard who fired a wrist shot over the blocker of the Wildcats goalie.  The Little Flyers had plenty of chances as they registered 25 shots on goal in the first period but couldn’t add to the lead until there was under four minutes left to play.  Kyle Scott took a pass from Ryan Sharkey at the side of the net and put a shot past the Wildcats net minder, Austin Mazzulo assisted on the play.  Down the other end of the ice Grogesky wasn’t challenged much as he stopped all four shots he faced in the opening period.

The Little Flyers added to their lead seven minutes into the second period.  Defenseman Nate Dunning kept the puck in the Wildcats zone, getting it to Mazzulo who passed the puck through the slot to a wide open Scott for his second goal of the game.  Grogesky made 13 saves in the period to keep the Wildcats off the board through forty minutes of play.

Just a minute and twenty seconds into the third period, Scott capped the scoring in the game with his third goal that was assisted by line mates Ryan Sharkey and Savay Thompson.  Grogesky remained perfect in net for the Little Flyers stopping all 26 shots he faced in the game.  The defenseman in front of him limited the number of prime scoring chances, improving Grogesky’s record to 8-5 on the season.

On Sunday, the Little Flyers traveled to West Chester, PA to visit the South Conference’s top team in the Jr.Flyers.  The Little Flyers would play this game shorthanded, only dressing 16 skaters.  Ryan Creenan, the EHLP’s reigning Goalie of the Month got the start in net for the Little Flyers.  The Jr.Flyers opened the scoring with an even strength goal from Tyler Johnson 3:29 into the game.  The Little Flyers answered back four minutes later when Austin Mazzulo sent a no look backhanded pass to Kyle Scott all alone at the side of the net, Scott one timed the puck past the sprawling Jr.Flyers goalie to tie the game at 1-1, Captain Ryan Sharkey was credited with an assist on the goal.  While on the power play midway through the first period, Scott would give the Little Flyers the lead, scoring his second goal of the game courtesy of Eric Maard and Austin Mazzulo.  Creenan kept the Jr.Flyers off the board for the remainder of the first period, making 12 saves.

The Jr. Flyers tied the game at 2-2 just under two minutes into the second period on Johnson’s second goal.  The defense and Creenan would be leaned on heavily as the Little Flyers successfully killed off a four minute Jr.Flyers power play.  The game remained tied for seven minutes until defenseman Max McAllister was able to regain the lead for the Little Flyers.  The Jr. Flyers attempted to clear the puck from their zone but Daniel Taylor kept the puck in the zone to Mazzulo who found McAllister all alone in the slot.  McAllister's snap shot found its way through traffic and into the back of the net.  A minute and a half later while shorthanded, the Jr.Flyers tied the game at 3-3.  The two teams headed into the second intermission deadlocked at three apiece.

The Jr. Flyers came out in the third period firing, as they took the lead less than two minutes into the final frame.  The Little Flyers had plenty of chances to tie the game back up as they had three power plays in the third period but they ran out of gas.  The Jr. Flyers added another goal midway through the period and capped the scoring with an empty net goal with just one second remaining on the clock.  Creenan faced 45 shots, making 39 saves as the Little Flyers fell to the Jr.Flyers by a final score of 6-3.

The Little Flyers are back in action this weekend with a very important home and home series against the Philadelphia Revolution.  Currently the Little Flyers lead the Revolution by one point in the South Conference standings.
