Aston, PA — Coming off of a weekend sweep of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, the Little Flyers EHL team were on the road for a Wednesday afternoon game against the no.1 ranked Philadelphia Revolution.  Going into the game, the Revolution led the Little Flyers by 10 points in the Mid-Atlantic division standings.

The Little Flyers got off to a good start in this one, taking the early lead just over two minutes into the first period.  On a play that began in the Little Flyers zone, Alex Ochterbeck gathered the puck in the neutral zone and got it to Joey Savel in the slot.  Savel sent a shot towards the net that Eric Higgins was able to find and put home to put the Little Flyers up 1-0.  Midway through the period, the Little Flyers were unable to capitalize on a power play opportunity.  Shortly after the power play expired, the Revolution tied the game with a Martin Kapoian even strength goal.  The two teams finished the first period tied at 1-1.  Little Flyers starting goaltender Brendahn Brawley made 8 saves in the period as the Little Flyers outshot the Revolution 12-9 in the first.

The physicality picked up in the second period as the two teams combined for seven roughing minors.  The Revolution were able to take their first lead of the game courtesy of the EHL’s second ranked goal scorer, Bryce Whitman.  Whitman’s goal was the lone scoring of the second period with Brawley making 12 saves to keep the Little Flyers within one goal.

The Little Flyers were able to to tie the game at the 6:32 mark of the third period with Ryan Glavin’s 9th goal of the season.  Little Flyers defenseman Brendan Coughlin, kept a Revolution clearing attempt in the zone and one timed the puck off the boards towards the net, Galvin got his stick on the puck to deadlock the game at 2-2.  The two teams traded scoring chances but neither could break the tie, needing overtime to end this game.

In the 3-on-3 five minute overtime period, the Little Flyers started with the league’s leading scoring duo of Joey Savel & Alex Ochterbeck alongside defenseman Nick Magill-Diaz.  Ochterbeck won the face off over Savel who carried the puck into the Revolution zone.  After taking two strides into the zone Savel passed the puck to a streaking Ochterbeck in the slot, Ochterbeck played the puck out of his skates and poked it through the Revolution goaltenders five hole for the game winning goal.  The 3-2 win captured Brawley’s league leading 13th win of the season.  The goal was Ochterbeck’s league leading 29th of the year.

This weekend the Little Flyers will hit the road for two games in Connecticut Oilers on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.  Philadelphia leads the season series 2-0 with a decisive 6-0 win on home ice on November 4th and a 3-1 win on November 5th.  Both games this weekend can be seen live on HockeyTv.
