with SPHL‘s Huntsville
Havoc
The senior captain will

Saturday night’s game
RINDGE, N.H.
(March 7, 2008)
– Senior
captain Joe
Fields (Towamencin,
Pa./ Philadelphia
Little Flyers)
of the Franklin
Pierce University
men’s ice hockey
team has signed a
professional
contract with the
Huntsville Havoc of
the Southern
Professional Hockey
League (SPHL), the
team announced on
Friday afternoon.
Fields will join the
Havoc for the team’s
final seven games of
the 2007-08 regular
season, beginning
tomorrow night,
March 8, against the
Columbus
Cottonmouths.
Huntsville, which
currently lists 13
former NCAA Div. I
and III players on
its roster,
currently is in
seventh place in the
SPHL with a 19-23
record.
“I’ll see what it’s
like for the rest of
the season, and then
next year I could
return to Huntsville
or sign with another
team,” Fields said.
“I think it’s a big
step forward for the
[Franklin Pierce]
program, and I hope
that other players
can follow the same
path.”
Fields was one of
the major forces
behind the
Northeast-10
Conference’s most
potent offense in
2007-08, recording a
program-best 31
points on 15 goals
and 16 assists in
his senior season.
His goal and point
totals set new
single-season
records at the
school, while he
finished the regular
season second in the
NE-10 in goals and
third in points. The
senior was also
named the
Northeast-10 Player
of the Week twice
and the ECAC
Northeast Conference
Player of the Week
on one occasion in
2007-08.
The Towamencin, Pa.,
native sustained his
production
throughout his four
years at the school,
as he finished his
record-breaking
four-year career as
the school’s
all-time leader in
career goals (37),
assists (49) and
points (86). Fields
also holds the
program’s
single-season record
for assists (19),
set in 2006-07, and
his three career hat
tricks are the most
among any Raven
skater.
Franklin Pierce
(6-19-0, 1-4-0
NE-10, 4-12-0 ECAC
NE) completed the
2007-08 season with
six wins, tying the
program record for
victories in a
single season. The
team also broke no
fewer than seven
program records
during the year,
including
single-season marks
for goals (93),
assists (151) and
points (244).
