Aston, PA – Philadelphia Little Flyers alumni, Joe Giacobbo has announced his NCAA commitment to Utica College.  Giacobbo, who recently finished his junior hockey career with the Rockland Nationals of the Central Canada Hockey League spent the 2016-17 season with the Little Flyers EHL team.  Giacobbo, a lifelong Little Flyer, spent his youth hockey days in the organization until playing Juniors in the EHL.

“My time in the EHL with the Little Flyers organization was a great year, not only did it prepare me for Junior Hockey and my time in the CCHL but I left with countless friendships that I still hold on to this day.  I look forward to attending Utica College in the Fall with a few of those old Little Flyers teammates and continued success at the collegiate level” said Giacobbo earlier this week.

The 5’10” 165lb goaltender had a stellar rookie season in the EHL, finishing the regular season and playoffs with a 22-5-1 record with a 1.40 GAA and .937 save percentage.  Giacobbo still holds the EHL record for lowest regular season Goals Against Average of 1.26 and held the league record for shutouts in a season with 7 prior to this season which was broken by Little Flyers 2018-19 goaltender Brendahn Brawley.  In his rookie season in the EHL, Giacobbo finished 3rd in both Goalie of the Year and Rookie of the Year voting.  This past season in the CCHL, Giacobbo was the Nationals MVP posting a  27-12-2 while making over 1100 saves, leading the Nationals to the second round of the playoffs.  As Giacobbo mentioned he will be reunited with some old Little Flyers teammates as forwards Tyler Pietrowski, Jamie Bucell, Joey Savel and defenseman Cameron Bartkoski were all on the Utica Pioneers roster last season.  On behalf of the entire Little Flyers Organization we wish Joe and his family the best of luck as he moves to the collegiate level.
