Aston, PA -  The EHL season kicked off this past weekend featuring one of the league’s top rivalries when the Philadelphia Little Flyers hosted the Philadelphia Revolution in the opening game of the 201920 Eastern Hockey League regular season.   

After going 16-0 in his rookie season with the Little Flyers, Thomas McLarnon picked up where he left off last season with a 26 save shut out on Saturday.  Will Smith opened the scoring with a Power Play goal when Brett Turner found a curling Smith in the slot.  Smith fired a wrist shot up blocker side to give the Little Flyers a 1-0 lead, Rob Holland picked up his first career junior point with a secondary assist on the play.  Smith, extended the lead to 2-0 with under a minute to play in the first period when he redirected a Soren Bredeson shot from the point into the back of the Revolution net. 

Midway through the second period, puck pressure and fore-checking by the line of Tyler Marvil, Ryan Candia and Keegan Morin got the Little Flyers on the board for the third time in the game.  Marvil moved the puck off the boards to Morin moving towards the net.  Morin’s quick pass to a cutting Candia left the second year forward all alone with the Revolution goaltender.  Candia quickly moved to the backhand to tuck the puck home short side.  Rob Holland finished the Little Flyers scoring on the day, notching the teams third power play goal of the game and first of his career.  Brett Turner and Dante Gattone were credited with assists on Holland’s put back goal.  McLarnon was sharp all game long turning away 12 total Revolution shots in the third period.  A great defensive effort on the penalty kill left the Revolution scoreless as the Little Flyers shorthanded units forced the Revolution to go 0 for 8 with the man advantage.  McLarnon and the Little Flyers host the North Carolina Golden Bears at Premier Orthopeadics IceWorks Skating Complex on Saturday 9/14 at 4:15 PM Live on Hockey TV.
