Little Flyers Girls Hockey Weekend Round Up 9/7 & 9/8

Aston, PA -  The opening weekend for the Philadelphia Little Flyers Girls Hockey teams was a successful one. 

19U- The Little Flyers 19u beat the Steel City Selects 5-4 to run their early season record to 3-0.  Allie Corser-James (2G/1A) got the scoring started with her first goal of the season in the first.  While on the power play Steel City would soon even it up on a deflection from the blue line.  Midway through the second Corser-James found Jasmine Clough wide open in front of the net.  Clough buried it putting the Little Flyers back up 2-1.  Steel City would add two quick goals ten seconds apart before Nikki Wood scored to finish out the second period all tied at 3. 

Lexi Lombardi charged out of the intermission and tallied her first of the season putting the Little Flyers back on top less than two minutes into the third.  That lead lasted less than a minute before Steel City found twine making it 4-4.  With time winding down, having opened the scoring Corser-James decided to also close it out.  On a feed from Susie Roselli, Corser-James scored to put the Little Flyers on top, where they stayed, 5-4.  Nicole Fitzgerald and Madison Marzano each had an assist during the contest with Caelie McFadden and Hannah Gordon each playing well while splitting time in the net.  Next up are league home games against the Jr. Flyers on Saturday and Lady Patriots on Sunday.

16U – The Little Flyers 16U team played a tough two game weekend series against the NOVA Ice Dogs with both games ending in a tie.  In game one, the Little Flyers were led offensively by Avari Hahn and Evelyn Hill who each scored a goal.  Lea Grassia kept the game tied, making big saves throughout the game to preserve the 2-2 tie.   

In game two, The Little Flyers goals were scored by Monica Mumma, Alexia Poulin and Avari Hahn.  In goal, Sydney Babin ensured the teams remained tied as she held on for the tied final score.  Next up for the 16U Little Flyers is a Sunday 9/15 game at the Princeton Tiger Lillies. 

14U – The 14U Little Flyers went 1-0-1 against the Nova Ice Dogs.  In game one, Ashlyn Porter scored the lone goal in the game, giving the Little Flyers a 1-0 victory.  Game two was another close contest as McKayla Peters was the lone goal scorer for the Little Flyers as they fell in overtime by a final score of 2-1.  Fiona Walker and Sarah Dobryznski were solid in goal all weekend for the team combining for only two goals against in two games. 

12U – Little Flyers opened up MAWHA league play with a 7-1 win against the NJ Colonials.  Alyssa Viola led the way offensively, finding the back of the net four times in the game.  Josie DeForest scored her first career goal as a Little Flyer in the game.  Goals were also scored by Allie Bramble and Samantha Dobrzynski.  Alyssa Viola and Kaitlin Weil were credited with assists in the game.  The 12 U travels to the NJ Colonials this weekend for a game on Saturday 9/14.
