2008 Little Flyers Have Three Win Weekend

Aston, PA – Little Flyers Youth Hockey Weekly Round Up 9/14 & 9/15

18U -  Patrick O’Connell and Byron Hartley led the way offensively for the Little Flyers, each scoring two goals and adding two assists in an 8-5 Little Flyers win over the NJ Colonials National Elite team.  Five of the Little Flyers eight goals came courtesy of special teams.  David Matousek, Patrick O’Connell and Koby Howat each scored with the man advantage.  While Lukas Washco and O’Connell’s second goal of the game came while shorthanded in the third period, just over a minute apart.  Liam Gross collected 19 saves on 22 shots while Harris Brotman made 6 saves on 8 shots to preserve the Little Flyers victory.

16U National -  In a Non-League game against the New Jersey Rockets, the Little Flyers 16 National team took home a 2-1 win.  Tom Sullivan got the scoring started with assists from Jack Ellis and Sam Christian.  Michael Gurracino scored the game winner unassisted.  Matt Lynch was stellar in net all day making 28 saves.

16 American -  Opened AYHL league play with a three game home stand against the Long Island Royals.  In game 1 of the weekend, the Royals won by a final score of 8-1.  The lone Little Flyers goal was scored by Evan Golato, assisted by Collin Berry and Santino Capone.  AJ Golden made 26 saves for the Little Flyers in net. 

In game two the Little Flyers had a lot more scoring chances, putting 23 total shots on goal.  Michael Leight and Francis Scales scored their first goals of the season in the Little Flyers loss.  Andre Amezquita and Zachary Neil were credited with assists.  John Plumley made 25 saves for the Little Flyers.

Game three was the closest of the weekend as the Little Flyers fell by a final score of 5-4.  Playing a much better all-around game, Zachary Neild led the way offensively registering a goal and an assists.  Charlie Maratea, Santino Capone and Chase Wilson all scored goals for the Little Flyers, Jeremy Durr and AJ Basich picked up assists in the game.  AJ Golden made 31 saves in the close contest.

Bantam Major 2005 – In Saturday’s game against Team Maryland, The Little Flyers jumped out to a two goal lead in the first period thanks to goals by Nicholas Fiore and Joseph Samango, Jack Wolf and Evan Rauch assisted on the first period goals.  Nick Dignazio’s third period goal looked to be the game winner for a while until Maryland came back late in the period to end the game in a 3-3 tie.  On Dignazio’s goal, Jack Wolf picked up his second assist of the day.  Christian Amato was sharp all day, making 35 saves.

On Sunday, the Little Flyers visited the New Jersey Colonials National team.  Aries Carangi saw over 50 shots in net for the Little Flyers, making 43 saves.  Offensively, Fiore scored his second goal of the weekend assisted by Joseph Samango.  Jack Wolf scored the Little Flyers second goal of the day on an assist from Fiore. 

PeeWee Major 2007 – Opened the AYHL season with a three game series against the Long Island Royals.  Thaddeus Raynish led the way offensively, scoring a hat trick in the closely contested 4-3 loss.  Jacob Aranda was sharp in net all day, making 28 saves.

The Royals ramped up their offense in game two, putting 35 shots on net against the duo of Aranda and Davis Fairbanks in a 7-2 loss.  Raynish found the back of the net twice more in this game with Alec James picking up an assist on Raynish’s first goal of the game.

The Royals defense held the Little Flyers off the scoreboard in game three.  Jacob Aranda made 26 saves in the game, while Fairbanks made 10 on 11 shots for the Little Flyers.

PeeWee Minor 2008 -  The 2008 Little Flyers opened the AYHL regular season going 2-0 on the weekend and picking up a Wednesday night win against the Junior Flyers.

The Little Flyers offense was firing on all cylinders in game one against the Washington Little Capitals, scoring 10 goals.  Paxton Hoishik’s six point (4 Goals, 2 Assists)  game led the way, Jack Torr and Aiden each found the back of the net twice in the game with Torr also adding an assist on Hoishik’s fourth goal of the game.  Sam Flood (1 Goal,2 Assists) and Michael Gravinese ( 1 Goal, 2 Assists) each had three point games with Anton Stackow Jackson Alcott each picking up an assist in the game.  Page Faith picked up his first shutout of the season, making 21 saves.

The offense stayed hot in game two against the Little Capitals, Aiden Delfin looked like an NBA point guard, dishing out 5 assists in the game.  Six Little Flyers had multi point games, Jack Torr (2 Goals, 1 Assist), Sam Flood (1 Goal, 1 Assist), Michael Gravinese ( 2 Goals), Anton Stackow (1 Goal, 1 Assist), Connor Nattress ( 2 Assists) and Delfin’s five assist performance.  Adam Charrafi and Paxton Hoishik got in on the scoring by each adding an assist in the game.  Anthony Haag made 7 saves in the 8-2 Little Flyers win. 

The final game of the weekend was a rare Wednesday night game against the neighboring Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.  After taking a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Jackson Alcott and Anton Stackow, the Jr. Flyers came back in the second period, taking a 3-2 lead into the third.  The Little Flyers offense once again came to life, scoring five times in the third period.  Paxton Hoishik tied the game under a minute into the period and then Connor Nattress gave the Little Flyers the lead six seconds later on a pass from Sam Flood.  Jack Torr put the game out of reach, scoring a pair of goals in the third period.  Michael Gravinese who has the primary assist on Torr’s goal earlier in the period put the game out of reach with an even strength goal of his own late in the third.  Anthony Haag registered 7 saves while Page Faith made 8 saves in the win.    

Squirt Minor 2010 – Saturday, the Little Flyers dropped the opening game of the weekend by a final score of 9-2 to the New York Saints.  Pete Esposito and Marcus Berlansky scored third period goals for the Little Flyers, Berlansky assisted on Esposito’s goal with Matt DeNucci picking up the assist on Berlansky’s goal.  Nathan Shahi made 25 saves in the contest.

On Sunday, the Little Flyers picked up their first win of the AYHL season with an 8-4 win over the Long Island Royals.  Matt DeNucci led the offense, scoring four goals and adding an assist.  Chase Bell had the only other multi point game with a goal and an assist.  Luke Hartman, Marcus Berlansky  and Nicholas Marra scored the Little Flyers other goals in the game with Michael Siddons and Shane Horkan picking up assists in the game.  Noah Russo picked up the win in goal, making 19 saves in the game. 

In game two against the Royals, the Little Flyers dropped a very tight game by a final scored of 3-2.  Marcus Berlansky found the back of the net two more times in the game, with his second goal assisted by Sean Devine.
