Aston, PA --
19U – Allie Corser-James led the way offensively for the Little Flyers Girls 19U team this past weekend in a 4-0 win against the NOVA Ice Dogs in MAWHA league play.  The two teams battled into the third period deadlocked at 0-0.  Corser-James changed that with a power play goal 2:27 into the third period to break the scoreless tie.  The Little Flyers power play goal was set up by Nicole Wood and Morgan Hendler.  Just over a minute later, Corser-James netted her second goal of the game, an unassisted even strength goal.  Cassara McFadden and Alexandra Lombardi assisted on Morgan Thrush’s even strength goal at the six minute mark of the period to give the Little Flyers a 3-0 lead.  Nicole Wood iced the game for Philadelphia with Morgan Hendler picking up her second assist of the game on the goal, Allison Corser-James capped her three point performance with the secondary assist on Wood’s goal.  Hannah Gordon made 24 saves in the shutout victory behind a stellar defensive performance that limited NOVA’s chances all game long.

16U -  This past weekend saw the U16 Little Flyers face-off with the NJ Rockets.  The Little Flyers played this game shorthanded with several players missing from the lineup.  The game started out with even play throughout the first period that ended in 0-0 score.  With the short bench many Little Flyers players were double shifted throughout the game and the Rockets took advantage of the tired legs. The Rockets were able to out shoot Philadelphia 6-1 and took a 2-0 advantage at the end of the second period.

The Little Flyers defense tightened up in the third period, defenseman Avari Hahn put a blue line shot over the Rockets netminders head to get on the scoreboard for the Little Flyers first goal of the game.  Play continued to be in the Little Flyers favor and two minutes after the Hahn goal, defenseman Morgan Daly took the puck coast to coast to tie the game at 2-2.  As the third period went on, the Rockets took advantage of the Little Flyers short bench, scoring two goals to take the game by a final score of 4-2.   Despite the final score the defense really played well.  Defensemen Avari Hahn, Morgan Daly, Elle Clevens, and Kaila Booth not only pushed back on the Rockets hard they were able to secure the only two Little Flyers Goals.
