10U: Falls in Semi-Finals in High Scoring Affair

Aston, PA --

The Little Flyers Girls 19U team captured their first ever MAWHA Championship on Saturday night thanks to some late game heroics from Susie Roselli.  In the first round of the playoffs, the Little Flyers faced off against Snider Youth in a must win to advance game for both teams.  Hannah Gordon and Caelie McFadden took care of the back end for the Little Flyers, combining to make 13 saves in a combined effort in the net.  Lindsey Coffey and Lexi Lombardi each tallied two goals for the Little Flyers in a 5-1 win over Snider Youth to secure their spot in the semi-finals.  Coffey added an assist as well to lead the way offensively with a three point game.  In addition to the scoring of Coffey and Lombardi, Joyce Sun added a goal and Julia Weiss picked up a primary assist in the game.

With a trip to the Championship game on the line, the Little Flyers took on the Montclair Blues in the MAWHA Semi-Final game.  There was plenty of offense in this game as the two teams combined to score 13 goals.  The Little Flyers used a balanced scoring attack to take down the Blues in the semi-finals by a final score of 8-5.  Joyce Sun led the way offensively scoring a hat trick in the must win game but she wasn’t alone, Susie Roselli, Allie Corser-James, Sadie Nattress, Morgan Thrush and Lexi Lombardi each scored a goal in the pivotal game.  Caelie McFadden and the defense kept the Blues high powered offense off the scoreboard late in the game to secure the victory.  Allie Corser-James, Lexi Lombardi, Nicole Fitzgerald (2), Olivia Black, Cassie McFadden, Jasmine Clough and Cece Jenkins all registered assists in the game.

In the Championship game, the Little Flyers took on the storied Princeton Tiger Lilies who went 14-0-2 in the regular season.  Hannah Gordon saved her best performance of the season in net for the Little Flyers when her team needed her the most, making 24 saves in the game.  Lexi Lombardi scored the opening goal for the Little Flyers with assists from Allie Corser-James and Maddy O’Malley.  With one minute remaining and the two teams tied at 1-1, it was Susie Roselli who would play hero in this game, taking a feed from Lindsey Coffey to score the game winning goal, Corser-James picked up her second assist of the game on the game winning goal.

10U Falls in MAWHA Semi-Final

The Little Flyers Girls 10U team had a chance to make the MAWHA Championship on Saturday but first they had to go through the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.  In another high scoring affair, Allyson Dembzynski put the Little Flyers offense on her back, scoring 5 unassisted goals in the game.  The Jr. Flyers jumped out to a quick start, having a 2-0 advantage after the first period.  The Little Flyers answered back in the second, scoring two goals of their own, Dembzynski’s second goal of the period came with just 18 seconds left before the intermission.  The Jr. Flyers regained the lead in the third period scoring three goals in a minute span to take a commanding three goal lead.  The Little Flyers answered back once again, scoring two goals just 12 seconds apart to cut into the Jr. Flyers lead.  Dembzynski netted her 5th goal of the game with 2:42 left in the game but the comeback fell just short as the Little Flyers fell by a final score of 8-5.  Carly Clevens made 9 saves in net for the Little Flyers in the game.
