Aston, PA -- The Philadelphia Little Flyers, members of the Eastern Hockey League are proud to announce 1999 birth year Goaltender, Thomas McLarnon has committed to attend Assumption College in the Fall of 2020 to continue his education and hockey career.  McLarnon, a 5’11”goaltender from Doylestown, PA was a member of the Little Flyers EHL team for two seasons. In those two seasons, McLarnon amassed an impressive 26-9-1 record with a 2.63 Goals Against Average and .901 save percentage. “We are all very proud of Tommy and what he has accomplished in a Little Flyers jersey over the past two seasons.  He has been someone we can lean on throughout his two years here and has carried a tremendous work ethic both on and off the ice for us. When our backs were up against elimination in Game Two of our playoff series against Team Maryland, Tommy turned in one of his best performances of the season to guarantee us a game three and a chance to advance. I think Assumption College is a good fit for Tommy and I look forward to seeing him in between the pipes at the NCAA level” said Little Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Mark Catron.

“I am very excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Assumption College.  Thank you to my family for their continuous support, Coach Catron and the Little Flyers for giving me the opportunity to play junior hockey in a prestigious  program and a special thanks to Coach Looney for giving me the opportunity to continue my academic and athletic career at Assumption. I have been extremely fortunate to have two incredible goalie coaches, Terry Denike and Chris Economou, and fantastic trainers at Function and Strength and Speed Elite, to help me be successful both on and off the ice. Having had opportunities to play for the Minutemen, Little Flyers and New Hampton, my experiences have prepared me for this next chapter.  I am very excited to be a part of the Assumption community” said McLarnon earlier this week upon making his commitment official.

The Assumption College Greyhounds located in Worcester, Massachusetts are an NCAA DII program led by Head Coach, Michael Looney.  The Greyhounds are members of the Northeast10 conference and finished the season with a 15-9-4 overall record in 2019-20. As Coach Catron mentioned, McLarnon’s biggest win of the season came in the playoffs, turning in a 26 save performance in game two of the Little Flyers first round playoff series against Team Maryland.  Heading into game two, on home ice, the Little Flyers trailed Team Maryland 0-1 in the best-of-3 game series. The Little Flyers evened the series at 1-1 with a 6-1 win to force a decisive Game 3, which the Little Flyers came from behind to win and advance to the next round of the EHL playoffs before the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  On behalf of the entire Little Flyers Organization, congratulations to Thomas and his family on committing to Assumption College and we thank Thomas for everything he has done in representing the Philadelphia Little Flyers Organization throughout his time here.
