Aston, PA -- The Philadelphia Little Flyers, members of the Eastern Hockey League are proud to announce Jakub Kubik’s NCAA College commitment to further his education and hockey career at Worcester State University.  Kubik, a 2000 birth-year goaltender from Uherske Hradiste, CZE just completed his only season playing hockey in North America.  The 5’9” 160lb net minder appeared in 24 total games in the orange and black.  “We are all very proud of Jakub and what he was able to accomplish this season.  It’s not easy coming over to the United States and getting quickly adapted to the game and be the workhorse he was for us down the stretch.  Jakub came to us last summer wanting to live out his dream of playing hockey and going to college here in the U.S., he put the work in on and off the ice and was enrolled in online college courses throughout the season.  I’m happy that he is going to get a great opportunity at Worcester State with Coach Deraney” said Philadelphia Little Flyers Head Coach Mark Catron.

“First and foremost, I want to thank my family for always supporting me in my hockey career. I would like to thank the Philadelphia Little Flyers organization, to coach Catron, Anthony Lorusso and my teammates, for everything they have done for me. I am also incredibly grateful for my Billets Family Mike and Vicky and the entire Hargesheimer family.  Last, but not least a huge thanks to my advisors from Sport & Study Robert Sovik, Nick DiLisi and to my family advisor Jaroslav Balastik. I am extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity I am being given by coach Deraney and his staff at Worcester State University; I’m looking forward to continuing my hockey career for Lancers and the opportunity to earn a degree from Worcester State” said Kubik after making his commitment official late last week.

Kubik finished the regular season with a record of 13-8 between the pipes for the Little Flyers with a 2.85 GAA and .911 save percentage.  His 13 regular season wins ranked tied for 7th in the EHL, two of those wins were shutouts, tied for 5th most in the league.  In the playoffs, the Little Flyers rode Kubik to a first round sweep against Protec and took the conference champion, New Jersey 87s to overtime in back to back one goal games.  In the post season, Kubik was 2-2 with a 2.43 GAA and .919 save percentage.  On behalf of the entire Little Flyers Organization we would like to congratulate Jakub and his family on the NCAA Commitment to Southern New Hampshire University.
