MeGraw to join Golden Wolves for Inaugural Season

Aston, Pa – The Philadelphia Little Flyers, members of the Eastern Hockey League are proud to announce Scott MeGraw’s college commitment to further his education and hockey career at Alvernia University.  MeGraw, a 6’0 160 LB 2000 birth-year forward from Philadelphia, PA just completed his 2nd season with the Little Flyers.  A mid-season acquisition during the 2019-20 campaign, MeGraw appeared in 24 total games, scoring six goals and adding 11 assists in his first season with the orange and black.  “Scott came to our program during the 2019-20 season just looking for an opportunity, he played on the blue line for us most of his first season because that’s where we needed him at the time.  The level of maturity and leadership Scott showed starting in camp this past season earned him a role as our Assistant Captain which is what we needed for such a young group.  Scott’s ability to create plays and set up teammates was on full display this season; he led the league in power play assists as our quarterback on the top unit.  Being at Alvernia with Coach Burke will be a great opportunity for Scott to help get that program off the ground and compete at a high level.  I think he has a chance to be very successful in the classroom and on the ice with Golden Wolves” said Little Flyers Head Coach Mark Catron.  Alvernia University, located in Reading, Pennsylvania will enter its first season competing at the NCAA Division III level in the fall of 2022.  The Golden Wolves will join the MAC (Middle Atlantic Conference) under the leadership of Head Coach, Andrew Burke a very familiar face to the Little Flyers organization.  Burke, is an alumni of the Little Flyers Junior Hockey Program, as he played in the orange and black from 2006-2008, Burke then moved onto to a successful four-year on ice career at UMass-Boston.

“I’d like to start by thanking my family for all the sacrifices they have made for me to get to this point and all of their support and encouragement; I wouldn’t have been able to achieve this goal without them.  Also, I would like to thank all of my teammates that I’ve played with and the Philadelphia Little Flyers Organization, Coach Catron and Anthony Lorusso for helping me to achieve my goal of playing NCAA hockey and the ability to further my education.  Lastly and most importantly I’d like to thank Alvernia University and Coach Burke for giving me this opportunity, it has been a long journey and I’m very excited to be a part of the Alvernia University Golden Wolves” said MeGraw after making his commitment official over the weekend.

MeGraw, finished his junior hockey career with a strong campaign, scoring 10 goals while handing out 35 assists in 36 games played.  His 17 Power Play assists led the entire EHL and his total assists of 35 were good for 3rd best in the league, MeGraw finished 11th in the EHL in total points scored for the 2020-21 season.  On behalf of the entire Little Flyers Organization, we’d like to congratulate Scott and his family on Scott’s college commitment and thank Scott for his contributions as a Little Flyer both on and off the ice.
