The Little Flyers struck first late in first period when McKayla Peters' shot went far side over the shoulder of Lady Islanders' goaltender Gabriella D'Auria (25 saves on 30 shots) and just under the crossbar to give the Little Flyers a 1-0 after one period.  Poppy Pennese and Morgan Mosley assisted on the goal.

The second period saw the offenses on full display as both teams found the back of the net three times.  After the Lady Islanders tied it up early in the second, it took just 23 seconds for the Little Flyers to answer with a one-timer from Gabby Bissell on a pass from Amanda Beatty to make it 2-1.  Less than three minutes later the Lady Islanders tied it up on the power play.  Just past the halfway mark, the Little Flyers turned it up a notch with a flurry of shots in front of the net, and Poppy Pennese was able to put a rebound into the back of the net for her first of two goals on the afternoon.  McKayla Peters and Amanda Beatty contributed on the goal to make it 3-2.  The lead was short-lived as the Lady Islanders once again tied it up less than a minute later, but the Little Flyers (and Poppy) weren't finished yet.  Four minutes later, Kalena Gruby crashed the net and after the initial save was able to kick the puck back where Poppy Pennese wasted no time taking the shot that was just able to get past the goaltender for her second goal of the game and the period, with Kalena notching the assist and giving the Little Flyers a 4-3 lead after two periods.

Early in the third period, the Little Flyers came out aggressive with some great forechecking and winning several puck battles behind the net, which eventually led to Amanda Beatty able to handle the rebound from a Gabby Bissell shot and get a quick wrist shot along the ice past the goaltender to make it 5-3 in favor of the Little Flyers.  Bissell and Nora Barth notched assists to give each of the forwards (dubbed the Bee Line and the Killer B's during Glenn's play-by-play) a point on the scoresheet for that score.  The Little Flyers clamped down on defense after that and goaltender Kailyn Williams (19 saves on 22 shots) turned away everything the Lady Islanders sent her way in the third to give the Little Flyers a 5-3 victory.  Poppy Pennese (2 goals, 1 assist) and Amanda Beatty (1 goal, 2 assists) both had 3 point efforts, with Gabby Bissell and McKayla Peters each getting a goal and an assist.  Kalena Gruby, Morgan Mosley, and Nora Barth each had an assist.
