Arnold set to join Raiders this fall

Aston, PA --  The Philadelphia Little Flyers, members of the Eastern Hockey League are proud to announce EHL Defenseman Avery Arnold’s NCAA commitment to further his education and hockey career at Rivier University.  Arnold, a 6’1” 185LB 2001 birthyear defenseman from Camp Hill, PA completed his second season with the Little Flyers EHL team.  During his rookie campaign in the 2020-21, Arnold played in 40 games, scoring 5 goals and adding 15 assists.  “We’re all very proud of Avery on his NCAA commitment to Rivier University.  Avery was a two-year staple for us on the back end, and an iron man this season, not missing a game in the most competitive division in the EHL” said Little Flyers EHL Head Coach and General Manager Mark Catron.  He continued “The work that Avery puts in on the ice and in the weight room is second to none.  I can’t say enough good things about the mature respectable young man that Avery is, I’m looking forward to seeing him progress over the next four seasons at Rivier”.  The Rivier University Raiders, located in Nashua, New Hampshire will enter their second season at the NCAA Division III.  Led by second year Head Coach Matthew Keating, the Raiders posted a record of 5-16-2 in their inaugural season.

“I am honored and blessed to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Rivier University.  I would like to thank my parents and family for supporting me throughout my entire career.  Without the support of my loved ones, none of this would be possible.  I also want to show appreciation to all my teammates and coaches who have molded me into the player I am today.  I would like to thank the Philadelphia Little Flyers organization for allowing me to compete with teammates who ended up becoming family.  I especially want to thank coach Keating for giving me the opportunity to become a NCAA student athlete. I am very excited to start this next chapter of my life” said Arnold upon making his NCAA Commitment final.

As Coach Catron mentioned above, Arnold was an Iron Man for the Little Flyers during the 2021-22 season.  Playing in all 46 regular season games and six playoff games, Arnold scored two goals and added 9 assists for 11 points in the regular season.  On the blue line, the 2001 defenseman was the anchor of the EHL’s top ranked Penalty Kill unit, at 91.5% for the season.  In the South Division Finals Arnold’s second period goal against the NJ 87s proved to be the game winner in game one of the series.  There will be some familiar faces on campus when Avery arrives on campus in New Hampshire in the form of current Rivier defenseman and Little Flyers Alumni Brett Turner.

On behalf of the entire Philadelphia Little Flyers Organization, we would like to congratulate Avery and his family on Avery’s NCAA College Commitment to Rivier University and thank him for his outstanding leadership and contributions both on and off the ice to the Philadelphia Little Flyers organization.
