Blaine, Minnesota – Three Little Flyers 18U players have been selected to represent the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) in the Tier 1 Top Prospects tournament set to take place in conjunction with the North American Hockey League (NAHL) Robertson Cup later this week.  Defenseman Jack Costabile and Braedon Dougherty along with forward Thor Hansen will be the three Little Flyers playing in the tournament against some of the top talent from the Tier 1 Elite League, Minnesota Hockey, NAHL Combine and NA3HL.  “It’s an honor for these three to be recognized by the NAPHL and to play in such a highly scouted event that is run in conjunction with the North American Hockey League’s Robertson Cup. This event is run by the NAHL directly and will feature all-star teams from the Tier 1 Elite League, NA3HL, Minnesota, etc. They will be playing against some of the best competition out there and will be exposed to countless Junior, and college programs. I am excited for them and we know they will represent the Little Flyers well” said Little Flyers 18U Head Coach and General Manager Dave Dorman.

Costabile, was an assistant captain for the 2021-22 season and has played three years with the Little Flyers 18U team.  A 6’0” 195 LB defenseman from Devon, PA, Costabile was an offensive threat from the blue line, scoring 10 goals and adding 29 assists in 53 career NAPHL games.  In the opening game of the 2022 Dixon Cup playoffs, Costabile led the Little Flyers to a 1-0 win against Biggby Coffee scoring the only goal in the game.

Dougherty, another assistant captain, and leader for the Little Flyers 18U team has been a Little Flyer for 5+ seasons.  The 5’10” 161 LB Newark, Delaware native is a spark plug on the backend for the AYHL and Atlantic District Champions with his physicality and shot blocking ability.  In 47 career NAPHL games, Dougherty scored three goals and added 20 assists, he was credited with the only assist on Costabile’s goal in the 1-0 win over Biggby Coffee.

Hansen, a 6’1” 175 LB forward from Hawthorne, NJ was a mid-season addition to the Little Flyers.  In 13 total NAPHL games this season, Hansen scored 7 goals and added three assists.  In this year’s Dixon Cup playoffs, Hansen’s first period goal against the Indy Jr. Fuel ignited the Little Flyers offense to a 7-1 victory in pool play.

The tournament will begin on Friday May 20th.
