Joins Mustangs this Fall

Aston, PA –The Philadelphia Little Flyers, members of the Eastern Hockey League are proud to announce forward Connor MacDonell’s NCAA College commitment to further his education and hockey career at Stevenson University.  MacDonell, a 6’0” 170LB forward from Milford, Michigan played parts of two seasons with the Little Flyers at the EHL level.  During his rookie campaign in 2020-21, MacDonell joined the Little Flyers in November and immediately added speed and skill to the lineup.  In 33 games as a rookie, he scored 17 goals and added 22 assists to finish second on the team in scoring despite not being with the team for the first two months of the season.  “Everyone here is thrilled for Mac and his commitment to Stevenson University, that was his first choice when he came back to us in January so I’m happy it worked out for him and his family” said Little Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Mark Catron.  As a player, Mac is a difference maker, his speed, hands and playmaking ability puts defenses on edge every time he is on the ice, when the puck is on his stick, good things happen for us.  Our players have had a long history of success at Stevenson under Coach Dawes and Coach Peffall, two guys our organization is very familiar with, I have no doubt that Mac will be very successful with the Mustangs over the next four years.”  The Stevenson University Mustangs are members of the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) led by 7th year Head Coach Dominick Dawes.

“I’m very proud to commit to Stevenson University to continue my academic studies and athletic career. I’d first like to thank my family especially my parents. I’d also like to thank all the coaches and team staff I’ve worked with in my career especially Coach Catron, Coach Rose, and Anthony Lorusso as well as my family advisor Zack Bargy. I’m very grateful for the opportunity Coach Dawes and Coach Peffall have given me and I can’t wait to be a Mustang” said Macdonell upon making his commitment official last week.

After a good rookie season with the Little Flyers, MacDonell signed in Canada to begin the 2021-22 season in the CCHL.  He returned to the Little Flyers after the holiday break and didn’t miss a beat, in 17 regular season games, MacDonell scored 10 goals and dished out 19 assists for 29 points.  MacDonell recorded 10 multi point games this year, scoring a career high four points on three different occasions (1/23/22 vs NYA), (1/24/22 vs NYA), (2/4/22 vs NJS).  He finishes his Little Flyers career playing in 56 games, scoring 28 goals and registering 46 assists for 74 points. On behalf of the entire Philadelphia Little Flyers Organization, we would like to congratulate Connor and his family on Connor’s NCAA College commitment to Stevenson University and thank him for his outstanding leadership and contributions both on and off of the ice to the Philadelphia Little Flyers Organization.
