Three Veterans Named Captains

Aston, PA --  The Philadelphia Little Flyers, members of the Eastern Hockey League are proud to announce Shane Green, Caleb Cathcart and Koby Howat have been named Team Captains for the 2022-23 EHL season.

Coming off of another appearance in the Eastern Hockey League’s Frozen Finals and South Division Championship in the 2021-22 season, the Little Flyers only returned four players to the EHL roster for this season.  “We knew coming into the season we were going to need strong leadership with such a young, inexperienced group at the EHL level.  Having Shane Green as our captain with Caleb Cathcart and Koby Howat as our Assistant Captains gives us three guys that have made deep runs in this league and at the 18U level before that” said Little Flyers EHL Head Coach and General Manager Mark Catron.

Shane Green, a native of Bear, Delaware played at the 16U level with the Little Flyers before joining the EHL Premier team as a 17 year old during the 2018-19 season.  In 2019-20 Green was named an EHL Premier First Team All-Star.  In the 2020-21 shortened Covid season, Green played in all 33 games, registering 6 points.  Last season, Green helped the Little Flyers get back to the Frozen Finals, appearing in all but one regular season game, scoring four goals and adding 15 assists.

Caleb Cathcart, a native of Detroit Michigan is in his second season with the Little Flyers EHL team.  Cathcart previously played for Little Caesars and Elite Hockey Academy for his 18U seasons.  Last year in the EHL, Cathcart scored 17 goals and added 17 assists for 34 points in 45 regular season games.

Koby Howat, a native of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania played two years for the Little Flyers at the 18U level before joining the EHL team last season.  During his 18U days, Howat also served as an Assistant Captain while helping lead the Little Flyers to the NAPHL Championship game.  Last year in the EHL, Howat scored 13 goals and added 16 assists for 29 points in 41 regular season games.

“The three of them do it all for us, they penalty kill, are on the power play and obviously are some of our top even strength players.  They all came into training camp in good physical condition, showing us they put the work in during the offseason to be that much better than last season” Concluded Catron.
