Aston, PA - The Philadelphia Little Flyers will be well represented at the 64th annual Quebec International Pee-Wee Tournament.
Jack Koslosky, Bek Hart-Carmichael, Cole Wray, Joey Pelle, Justin Carr, Parker Zinni and Randy Greener all current members of the 2011 Little Flyers will head to Quebec from February 7th to 18th to play in the most prestigious minor hockey tournament in the world.
“This is such a great honor and experience for these young players” said Philadelphia Little Flyers President Stephane Charbonneau. As a young player in Canada you wanted the opportunity to play in the tournament and experience everything it has to offer. These seven players have been with us for a while so to see them develop under Coach Carzo and Coach Dickerson to earn this once in a lifetime experience is something the entire organization is very proud of”.
The 120 team tournament will have teams from 15 different countries in it. Koslosky and Hart-Carmichael will be playing together for the Philadelphia Flyers Quebec team. The trio of Cole Wray, Joey Pelle and Justin Carr will represent the Hershey Bears Quebec team. Goaltender Parker Zinni will be in net for the Phantoms Quebec team and Randy Greener will represent Team Doritos.
The Quebec International Pee-Wee Tournament has been played for over 60 years in Quebec City. Founded in 1959 by Gerard Bolduc, the tournament was integrated with the festivities of Carnaval de Quebec. The biggest names in hockey have played in the tournament including Brad Park, Guy Lafleur, The Gretzky and Howe Brothers, Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy, Steven Stamkos and hundreds of more NHLers. In addition to letting thousands of kids live the dream, the tournament has always had the Patro Roc-Amadour foundation at heart. In 50 years, the tournament donated more than $2 million. It is in the Patro Roc-Amadour that the tournament has its Temple of Friendship. In it, you can find photos and trophies that have marked the tournament's history.
“I’m really proud of all seven of these guys for the commitment and hard work they have put in over the past few years here with us as Little Flyers” said 2011 Head Coach Rocco Carzo. “They’ve all earned this great opportunity that not everyone gets to experience so I hope they take it all in and have fun billeting, meeting new people in the hockey world and playing against some great competition up there”.
Good Luck to Jack, Bek, Cole, Joey, Justin, Parker and Randy as they get to play in the historic tournament from February 7th – 18th . For more information visit Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament (tournoipee-wee.qc.ca)
