The Philadelphia Little Flyers are pleased to announce that defensemen Mathew Conway (Bayville, NY) and Joseph Guinta (Old Bridge, NJ) will be playing NCAA hockey in 2012-2013.

Matt Conway has committed to play hockey for Nazareth College who will begin play in the ECAC West DIII, joining longtime members Elmira, Hobart, Manhattanville, Neumann, and Utica. The Golden Flyers will begin competition in the fall of 2012 in Pittsford, NY a suburb of Rochester. Nazareth’s hockey program is lead by Head Coach George Roll who spent 8 seasons as Head Coach at Clarkson University prior to his new position. “I am very proud of Matt and excited to see him compete in the very tough ECAC West against my alma mater Neumann. Matt came to us late in the season in a trade with Hartford and immediately brought veteran leadership and solid defensive ability. I wish I had the chance to work with Matt all season, and happy to see Matt reach his goal of playing NCAA hockey” said Coach Washko.

“I am thankful for the support and help that all the coaches at the Little Flyers have given me and I really enjoyed my time playing in Philadelphia. I am excited for next season at Nazareth College and can’t wait to compete in the ECAC West. I would also like to thank my family and all my past coaches for their help and support” said Conway.

Joe Guinta has committed to play at Framingham State University (MASCAC, NCAA DIII) for the 2012-2013 season. FSU is located in Framingham, Mass and is lead by TJ Brown who has completed his 3rd season as Head Coach. “G is a great competitor and a tough, gritty, team first guy. I have had the pleasure of coaching him this year and proud to have helped him find the right college fit. Joe will be a great asset to Framingham State University, I look forward to watching him compete at the NCAA level”, says Coach Washko.

“I’d like to thank Coach Washkalavitch, Coach Giacobbo, and the Little Flyers organization for giving me the opportunity to achieve my goal of playing NCAA college hockey. I’d also like to thank my former coaches who helped me grow as a player and moving me to the AJHL. Last but not least I’d like to thank my parents and sister for all they have done for me and for supporting my decision to attend Framingham State University” said Guinta.

The Philadelphia Little Flyers Junior hockey family wishes Matt and Joe the best of luck in college and with their future hockey endeavors.
