The Philadelphia Little Flyers are pleased to announce AJHL All-Star Defenseman, Ben Bauer has committed to Curry College (ECAC Northeast, NCAA DIII) for the 2012-2013 season.

Ben Bauer spent the first three months of his final junior season in the not so hockey hot bed of New Mexico. After 11 games in the NAHL, Bauer decided he needed more exposure to the NCAA hockey programs he was interested in attending back East. Ben played youth and Junior in the AYHL and MJHL before moving on to play out west, so it was an easy decision for him to return and play in the AJHL. Bauer decided on the Little Flyers Junior Program because of the organizations reputation of moving players on to college. The Little Flyers and Ben Bauer did not disappoint one another; Bauer immediately became an impact player on his way to being selected to the AJHL All-Star team. In return for his efforts Bauer received a commitment from Curry College.

“I am very proud of Ben; he made a tough decision to leave the North American Hockey League to pursue his dream of playing NCAA hockey. When recruiting Ben to come play here for us, I promised him the Little Flyers and AJHL would provide the exposure and connections to NCAA hockey programs he was looking for; and without fail he immediately received the attention from them he deserved. Ben has been an extremely positive influence to our hockey club and I am proud to have coached him. I look forward to watching Ben grow as a player over the next 4 years at Curry College” said Head Coach Steve Washkalavitch.

“I would like to thank Coach Washko for giving me the confidence to come back to Philadelphia and compete for a college opportunity. I would also like to thank the Giacobbo Family for welcoming me to their program. I have met some great teammates during my junior hockey career, and finishing as a Little Flyer has been awesome. I also would like to thank my family for their support throughout this experience. I look forward to the challenge of competing at Curry College. Coach Davies and Coach Rooney have made me feel Curry is the best spot for me to play College Hockey. My best hockey is still ahead of me, and I’m appreciative to everyone who has helped me through this journey”, said Ben Bauer.

Curry College is located in Milton, Ma where they compete in the ECAC Northeast, NCAA DIII. Lead by Coach Davies who in 13 seasons has mounted an impressive 202-122-19 record in 13 seasons as Head Coach. The Philadelphia Little Flyers wish Ben Bauer the best of luck at Curry College.
