Little Flyers' Manzi commits to Williams

The Philadelphia Little Flyers have announced that forward Sam Manzihas committed to Williams College (NESCAC) for the fall of 2013.

Manzi, from New York, N.Y., has eight goals for 16 points through 14 games this season. The 1993-born was named the AJHL's Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 21 after colleting five goals and two assists in two games.

"Sam has been a model player for us and has earned every bit of his success," said Little Flyers coach Steve Washkalavitch. "(Williams head coach Bill Kangas) is getting a great person and a player with a relentless work ethic; he won’t be disappointed."

"I’m extremely fortunate to be able to play with such a close group of players here with the Little Flyers," said the 5-foot-10, 165-pound Manzi. "I appreciate the opportunity Coach Washkalavitch has given me to play at the Junior A level, and I’m very excited for the chance to play for Coach Kangas at Williams."

Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2012-13, the AJHL, a USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III Junior A league boasting 12 teams from seven states, prides itself on the social maturity and skill development of student-athletes ages 16-20 with aspirations of advancing to collegiate and/or professional hockey.
