The Philadelphia Little Flyers, proud member of the Atlantic Metropolitan Hockey League and the Atlantic Youth Hockey League, are proud to announce the addition of an 18U team to our program. The team will begin competition in the 2014-15 season.

With the addition of the 18U team, the Little Flyers will now ice teams from the Squirt Minor Level all the way up to Junior A. “This is an excellent step for our program” Said Director of Hockey Operations and Junior A Head Coach Rocky Russo. “Mr. and Mrs. Giacobbo have invested in the Little Flyer program for years in an attempt to give young men the opportunity to play the great game of Ice Hockey. This is their way to give players the opportunity to stay with the Little Flyer program for their entire youth hockey careers.”

The Little Flyer program is the oldest organization in the Metropolitan Area, ranging all the way back to 1969. “I am proud of our organization and the individuals that are a part of it.” Said John Giacobbo Sr. “Roe and I wanted to be able to enable our young men to continue to play hockey at a high level within the Little Flyer Organization. Adding an 18U team will allow us to offer a great competitive option for our young men when it comes to midget hockey.” The Little Flyer program currently operates two 16U teams, one at the National and one at the American level. “This is a great step for us.” Said 16U National Head Coach John Giacobbo Jr. “We have always wanted to offer this level of hockey to our players, and with two 16U teams this season we will have a good pool of players to choose from for our 18U team.”

The Team will compete in the AYHL as well as many influential tournaments throughout the country. Tryout dates and times will be announced in the coming months as well as the coaching staff. Questions can be directed to Rocky Russo at rrusso@littleflyers.org
