On Saturday, the Philadelphia Little Flyers traveled to New Jersey Titans to play the fifth place titans. The teams played to zero zero tie through the first two periods. The Titans broke the zero zero deadlock with a goal at the 2:27 mark. The Little Flyers came right back 13 seconds later with a goal from Cameron Berry to knot the score at one. Oleg Potemkin scored a power play goal to give the Little Flyers a 2-1 lead. The little Flyers on slaught continued with goals from Jude Warner, Hector Majul and Drew Gannon to give the Little Flyers a 5 to 1 lead . The Titans scored two late goals but the Little Flyers had the game well in hand, the Little Flyers won 5-3.

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Little Flyers hosted the New Jersey Titans, at Ice Works Skating Complex, in Aston, Pennsylvania.  The Little Flyers already held a wide lead in the EHL South standings, sitting atop the division with 49 pts coming into this game, 8pts ahead of the 2nd place team, the New Jersey Rockets.  The New Jersey Titans are not as well placed in the EHL standings ranked, 5th out of 6 teams in the division, with an 8-23-3-3 record.

The first period began with a surprising lead by the New Jersey Titans, as Jimmy Burns snuck one past Greg Procopio early in the first.  That would be the only goal scored, but the Little Flyers dominated the period and were stopped on every attempt by a solid netminding performance by Michael DePhillips.

Drew Gannon tied the game with a goal on the power play half way through the second, only to be answered 2 minutes later by Conor Rankin who put his team back on top.  Late in the period, it would be Hector Majul who would again tie the game on a scrappy goal in front of the net.  The teams went into the locker room tied at 2, a game in which to this point was an underwhelming performance for the 1st ranked team in the EHL Southern division.

The third period was the type of game we expected statistically as the Little Flyers took control with three goals in the third by Drew Gannon (2), Jude Warner, and Colin Woods. The Flyers won by a score of 5-2, and pull further away from the rest of their division.  Coach Russo commented after the game, “We didn’t play a full 60 minutes today and I think we all know that; nevertheless, we showed up in the third today and got a win.  Colin Woods really surprised me today, I asked him to come out of his comfort zone, playing the wing, and he looked really good out there. He even scored a goal.  On the backend, Greg Procopio played an excellent game, though he’s seen limited ice time this season, he prepares like he’s going to start every game, and it showed today.” The Little Flyers unbeaten streak has reached 5 games. The Little Flyers travel to the New York Bobcats Tuesday Feb. 11th.

The Little Flyers record moves to 23-9-2-3 on the season.
