16u Team wins the EJEPL League Championship

The Little Flyers traveled to Manchester NH for the EJEPL League playoffs.

Their first game was against the number 2 seed Boston Bandits the Little Flyers trailed 1-0 till Brian Boylan tied the game at 1 with assists from Nate Chuckran and Ryan Vogt. The Bandits went ahead 2-1 untill Cody Liguori knotted the game at 2 with assits from Ryan Lauk and JP Sawyer. Brian Boylan scored his second goal of the game to give the Little Flyers the 3-2 with assists from Ryan Vogt and Ryan Lauk. Cody Liguori added his second goal to make 4-2 with assists from Demtri Stefanou and Ryan Vogt. JP Sawyer continued the scoring with an unassisted goal to make it 5-2. The Bandits did not give up they made it 5-4 until Demtri Stefanou scored into an empty net with assists from Vitally Novitskyy and Eric LaukJake Snyder stopped 24 of the 28 shots he faced.

The second game of the weekend was against the number 3 seed Northern Cyclones. The Cyclones took a 1-0 lead after a scoreless first period but Nate Chuckran answered right back with assist from Mike Hicken. The Cyclones took a 3-1 lead after 2 periods the Little Flyers made it 3-2 with a goal from Dima Kobulanskey assists from Ryan Lauk and JP Sawyer but they could not get the game tied and fell to the Cyclones 3-2. Joe Giacobbo stopped 25 of the 28 shots he faced.

The Third game of the round robin was against the LI Royals. The Little Flyers opened the scoring with a goal from Nate Chuckran, Nate added another goal to make it 2-0 with an assist from Mike Hicken. Brodie Deysher made it 3-0 with assists from Nate Chuckran and Dima Kobulanskey. Eric Lauk made it 4-0 with assits from Demtri Stefanou and Ryan Vogt. Ryan Vogt  finished the scoring off with assists from Demtri Stefanou and Eric Lauk. Jake Snyder stopped 23 of 23 shots to earn the shutout.

In the Semi-Final game the Little Flyers faceoff against the number 1 seed NY Applecore. After a scoreless first period Applecore scored the first goal to take a 1-0 lead going into the third period. Eric Lauk tied the game at 1 early in the third with assists from Demtri Stefanou and Ryan Lauk. Apple Core took the lead 2-1 but Eric Lauk scored at the 14 min mark of the third to tie the game at 2 with assists from Chris Maratea and Cody Liguori. The game went into overtime and Eric Lauk scored his third goal of the game with assist from Ryan Lauk to put the Little Flyers into the Championship Game vs the CT Oilers. Joe Giacobbo stopped 25 of 27 shots he faced in the OT win.

In the Finals the Little Flyers faced off against the Ct Oilers. The Oilers opened the scoring in the first period to take a 1-0 lead. The Little Flyers tied the game at 1 at the 15 minute mark of the second period with a goal from Eric Lauk with assists from JP Sawyer and Cody Liguori. A minute later Cody Liguori scored to give the Liitle Flyers a lead that they would not relinquish with assists from JP Sawyer and Dima Kobylyanskyy. Nate Chuckran scored his first of three goals with assists from Ryan Vogt and Demtri Stefanou. JP Sawyer continued the on slaught with assists from Ryan Vogt and Cody Liguori. Nate Chuckran scored his second goal of the game with assists from Eric Lauk and Brian Boylan. Nate Chuckran finished off his Hat Trick with assists from Eric Lauk and Brian Boylan. The second period ended with the Little Flyers leading 6-2. The Little Flyers opened the third period with a goal from Ryan Vogt with assists from Chris Maratea and Cody Liguori. Ryan Vogt finished off the scoring with an assist from JP Sawyer. Little Flyers won the game and the EJPHL Championship 8-3. Jake Snyder stopped 22 of the 25 shots he faced. Eric Lauk was named the Championship Game MVP.
