Jr A Take 1-0 Series Lead over Hartford with a 3-2 OT Victory

The Jr A's quarterfinal series against Hartford started today at Iceworks. The first period was scoreless with Hartford carrying most of the play, Alec Derks of the Little Flyers stopped 17 of the 17 shots he faced in the opening period.

The Little Flyers opened the scoring a minute into the second period with a goal from John Nugent with an assist from Matt Day. Drew Gannon extended the Little Flyers lead to 2-0 with assists from Cameron Berry and Garrett Gallagher.  Hartford answered back a minute later with a goal. The second period ended 2-1 in favor of the Little Flyers.

Hartford scored the only goal of the third period a power play tally at the 13 minute mark of the period to knot the game at 2 a piece.

Garrett Gallagher ended the game at the 1:05 mark of OT with a blast from the point with assists from Drew Gannon and Zach Felser. Alec Derks stopped 28 of 30 shots he faced for the victory. The Little Flyers lead the best of three series 1 game to none. Game 2 is tomorrow at 12 noon at Iceworks.
