Little Flyers Win Streak Moves to 8

Micucci records teams 4th Consecutive Shutout

The Little Flyers had just one opponent on the schedule this weekend, with a visit from Division foe New Jersey Titans on Sunday. The Flyers entered the game with a 10 point lead in the south division. The Titans sat in 3rd place entering the contest. The Little Flyers were slow out of the gate, allowing the Titans to apply offense pressure for the first couple shifts of the game. Little Flyer goaltender Trevor Micucci was up to the task, keeping the game tied at zero. The Little Flyers got on the board 5 minutes into the period a Troy Grahl made his return to Philadelphia and had an instant impact. Grahl caught a pass from Phil Zbell on the left point and blasted it over the glove of the Titans goaltender to take a 1-0 lead. Drew Gannon was also credited with an assist on the goal. The Little Flyers struck again in the early part of the second period as Jesse Macintyre was able to poke the puck into the net. Grahl earned his 2nd point of the game on the assist. Austin Kelly also received an assist on the goal. The score remained 2-0 for much of the 3rd period until Colin Woods caught a pass from John Nugent as he streaked down the right wing. With his feet moving he fired a wrist shot far side over the goaltenders blocker, knocking the water bottle off and making the score 3-0. The Little Flyers finished the scoring with a shorthanded empty net goal by defenseman Gabe Chuckran to make it 4-0. Woods and Grahl assisted on the goal. The win improved the Little Flyers record to 15-1-2 on the season, good for 32 points and 12 point lead in the South Division. Trevor Micucci earned his second consecutive shutout, stopping all 32 shots he faced. The Little Flyers Powerplay went 0-5 in the game with the Penalty Kill stood tall, going 5 for 5 on the day. Next up for the Little Flyers is a visit from the Boston Bandits on Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 2pm vs the Valley Jr Warriors. Both games will take place at Aston Iceworks Skating Complex.
