Little Flyers advance to EHL Semi-Final for 2nd straight year

The top seeded Little Flyers took on the 8th seeded Hartford Wolfpack in the EHL Quarterfinal this past weekend. The series was a rematch of last season’s EHL Quarterfinal, which the Little Flyers claimed in 3 games. The series was expected to be a tough matchup for the Little Flyers as the Wolfpack had some good offensive talent to try to combat the Little Flyers offensive depth. As game one started it was extremely physical. Both teams were ready to play and it looked like the makings of a great series.

Unfortunately for the Wolfpack their hopes of defeating the # 1 seed were quickly dashed. The Little Flyers took a 4-0 lead into the locker room after the 1st period and never looked back from. Oleg Potemkin paced the Little Flyers with a 5 point night, including 2 goals. Jesse Macintyre, who missed the first playoff series with an illness returned to the lineup and quickly made his presence felt, notching two goals of his own. Cam Berry also buried 2 times to help the Little Flyers to a 9-2 victory. Colin Woods, Blake Delisle and John Nugent each had 1 while Troy Grahl registered 4 assists, Phil Zbell had 3 and Woods had 2. 6 other players also registered a point in the victory. Trevor Micucci stopped 18 of 20 to earn his second victory of the 2015 playoffs and 21st win of the 2014-15 season. The Little Flyers went 3-7 on the powerplay while going 6-6 on the penalty kill.

Saturday night the Little Flyers picked up where they left off on Friday night, continuing their scoring barrage in impressive fashion as 10 different Little Flyers scored a goal in the 10-1 route. Garrett Gallagher got the Little Flyers on the board on the powerplay and the scoring kept coming from there. Hector Majul, Macintyre, Drew Gannon, Berry, Nugent, Zbell, Pavel Mikhasenok, Gabe Chuckran and Potemkin all found the back of the net. Chris Best, Macintyre, Chuckran and Potemkin each recorded 2 assists while 9 others each had 1. Greg Procopio stopped 22 of 23 shots to earn his 2nd win of the playoffs and 20th of the season. The Little Flyers went 3-5 on the Powerplay and 3-4 on the penalty kill.

Next up for the Little Flyers is a Semi Final Matchup with the 5th seeded Connecticut Oilers, who upset the 4th seed Walpole Express to advance.
