Nugent Commits to Lake Forest College

EHL Leading Scorer Makes His NCAA Choice

The Philadelphia Little Flyers are proud to announce that Little Flyer forward John Nugent has committed to attend Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL to continue his education and playing career.  In 51 career regular season games for the Little Flyers, John registered 15 Goals and 45 Assists for 60 points. He also registered 18 Penalty Minutes in that time while finishing his career with 3 Powerplay goals and 11 Powerplay Assists. In the Playoffs John was equally effective, scoring 6 goals and adding 8 assists for a total of 14 points in 13 career playoff games.  During the 2014-15 Season John played in all 44 games scoring 12 goals and adding 42 assists for a team leading 54 points. His 42 Assists were good enough for 2nd overall in the EHL while his 54 points were tied for 6th in league scoring.  “John was a tremendous part of our success this season.” Said Little Flyer Head Coach Rocky Russo. “He made an immediate impact on us when we acquired him last season at the trade deadline and he picked right up where he left of this season. I have no doubt he will continue to be a great playmaking forward at the NCAA level”. Nugent said, “I am very proud and happy to say that I finished my junior hockey career with the Little Flyers. Not only was I challenged on a daily basis to get better, but I was also given the opportunity to prove I was capable of being an NCAA Student-Athlete.” Nugent also added, “I would definitely like to thank Coach Russo for everything he has done for me since I got here, my parents and family for supporting me and Coach Kelliher at Lake Forest for giving me this opportunity.”

John is the 8th Little Flyer to make his NCAA Plans this season, joining Drew Gannon and Garrett Gallagher (UMASS-Boston), Zach Felser (Suny-Cortland), Blake Delisle (Trinity College), Jacob Paluch (Nazareth College) and Cody Slocum (Worchester State) and Greg Procopio (Lawrence University)
