Little Flyers Captain Chuckran Commits to U-Mass Boston

EHL Defenseman of the Year Makes Decision

The Philadelphia Little Flyers are proud to announce that Little Flyer Captain Gabe Chuckran has committed to attend University of Massachusetts-Boston to continue his education and playing career.  Chuckran, who is a 6’0, 190lb Left Shot Defenseman, played in 115 regular season games over 3 seasons for the Little Flyers EHL team. During that time Gabe registered 21 goals and 69 assists for 90 points, including 9 powerplay goals and 35 powerplay assists. He also had 58 penalty minutes and 2 game winning goals.  In the playoffs he was equally as effective scoring 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points in 13 games. The 2014-15 season was a break out year for Gabe as he was named to the EHL allstar team as a representative to play against the Russian 17U team. He was also a first team all EHL Defenseman and was named the EHL Defenseman of the year. “Gabe is a very unique person. His maturity and demeanor are beyond his years and his work ethic is unmatched for a young man his age.” Said Little Flyer Head Coach Rocky Russo. “He is a highly skilled player that not only contributes to his team but makes the players around him better. Most importantly he is a great teammate, leader and role model. UMB is getting a young man that will make a great impact both on and off the ice for their University.” Chuckran said, “I would like to thank my parents, teammates, Coach Russo and Mr. and Mrs. Giacobbo for helping me reach my goal of being an NCAA Student-Athlete.” Chuckran also added, “I am very excited to begin my college career at Umass-Boston. I am thankful to Coach Belisle and his staff for giving me this opportunity and can’t wait to help the Beacon's win a National Championship.” Gabe will be joining fellow Little Flyers Drew Gannon and Garrett Gallagher in the UMB incoming freshman class.

Gabe is the 13th Little Flyer to make his NCAA Plans this season, joining Cameron Berry (Suny-Oswego), Hector Majul (Curry College), Steve Mallory (Amherst), Nick Skerlick (Lebanon Valley) John Nugent (Lake Forest), Drew Gannon and Garrett Gallagher (UMASS-Boston), Zach Felser (Suny-Cortland), Blake Delisle (Trinity College), Jacob Paluch (Nazareth College), Cody Slocum (Worchester State) and Greg Procopio (Lawrence University)
