Mitchell Makes College Decision

Defenseman Selects University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire

The Philadelphia Little Flyers are proud to announce that Little Flyer Veteran Braden Mitchell has committed to attend University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to continue his education and playing career.  Mitchell, who is a 5’11, 190lb Right Shot defenseman, has played in 25 regular season games with the Little Flyers this season and played an important role in in the Little Flyers Junior program. Braden registered 5 goals and 25 assists for 30 points, including 3 powerplay goals and 15 powerplay assists.  Wisconsin-Eau Claire, a member of the WIAC conference, is currently ranked #8 in the country and is one the top Division III Universities in the country. The Blugolds finished the 2015-2016 season with a record of 15-6-6.  “Braden was an excellent addition to our organization this season.” Said Little Flyer Head Coach Rocky Russo. “He was a great teammate and leader both on and off the ice as well as a key contributor in all situations.” Mitchell commented, “I would like to thank my parents, teammates, Coach Russo, Coach Curley and Coach Catron for helping me reach my goal of being an NCAA Student-Athlete. I couldn’t have asked for a better situation in my last year of Junior hockey. ” Mitchell also added, “I am very excited to get the opportunity to be a student-athlete at such a prestigious university as Wisconsin Eau-Claire. I am thankful to Coach Loen and his staff for giving me this opportunity and I can’t wait to help the Bluegolds win another National Championship.”

Braden is the 3rd Little Flyer to make his College decision this season joining Bruce Stachitas (Stevenson), Austin Kelly (Wisconsin-Stevens Point)
