Aston, PA -- Little Flyers Eastern Hockey League goaltender Joe Giacobbo, has been selected to play in the Atlantic District Futures Prospects Game Thursday, September 22nd at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.  The Atlantic District Futures Prospect game will feature the top 1998-2001 born players in the District that were chosen by the Player Development Staff.  “It means a lot to me, I’m not only representing myself but this organization, my family and my teammates, I just want to go out there and play my best” said Giacobbo, after being informed of his selection to the District’s Futures roster.  The Atlantic District has teamed up with USA Hockey and the Philadelphia Flyers to host the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects game which features the top U.S. players who are eligible for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft.  Both games will take place on Thursday, September 22nd with the Atlantic District game kicking things off at 3:00 PM and the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects game starting at 7:00 PM.

Giacobbo, the 1998 born goaltender and lifelong Little Flyer is entering his first season of junior hockey with the Eastern Hockey League team.  Little Flyers EHL Head Coach & General Manager Rocky Russo expressed his thoughts on Giacobbo’s selection to the team, “the opportunity for Joe to play in an event of this magnitude is excellent, its great exposure for him individually and great for our program as a whole, he’s earned it with his hard work. We are excited to see him in the game and looking forward to what he can bring to us over the course of the season.”  The night before the game, the Atlantic District players will practice at the Wells Fargo Center with the USA HOCKEY National Staff.  When asked about what he is looking forward to most, Giacobbo had this to say “Playing in the Wells Fargo is going to be a fun time but the level of competition at the event is going to be great, there is going to be a lot of division 1 commits and high level junior guys there so it’ll be exciting and highly competitive, I can’t wait to get out there.”

In addition to Giacobbo, Little Flyers Alum and current OHL forward Marcus Dickerson will be playing in the Atlantic District Futures Prospects game as well.  “To see the level of players that are in the Atlantic District Prospects event is second to none, when you look at guys like Marcus Dickerson and Simon Butala.  Because the games are back to back there will be a lot of Division 1 NCAA scouts, NHL scouts, Pro Scouts as well, I think this is a tremendous opportunity for Joe and all of the other players participating in the event as well," Russo commented.  The Little Flyers organization will not only be represented on the ice but in the announcer’s booth as well.  Tom Wilms, the voice of the EHL Little Flyers has been selected as the play-by-play commentator for the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects game live on FastHockey.
