Pond Hockey, Gingerbread Cookies & More

Each day from now until Christmas we will sit down and talk to a player from the Little Flyers Eastern Hockey League Junior Team to discuss the holiday season.  On day fourteen we talked to forward #18 Joey Savel

  1.  Favorite thing about Christmas?  "The pond hockey.  Going back home playing on the pond with all of your friends, it’s the best kind of hockey”
  2. Favorite Christmas tradition growing up as a kid? “Going to my grandparents’ house and having the whole family over celebrating Christmas, being able to see everyone is really fun”
  3. What are you looking forward to most this holiday season?  “Definitely going home to see my girlfriend Jill”
  4. Favorite Christmas Food?  “I’m a big fan in gingerbread cookies, I know I shouldn’t say that because Rocky is going to be mad at me but I love gingerbread cookies.  My grandma makes them, she is a great cook”
  5. Favorite Christmas Movie?  “Elf, it’s the best”
  6. Favorite Christmas Song?  “All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey”
  7. Most Memorable Christmas? “A few years back when I got my first car, it was a 2005 Ford Explorer, the best Christmas gift I could have gotten”
  8. Best gift you’ve ever received? “The Car”
  9. Worst gift you’ve ever received? “Last year I got a pair of socks from my grandparents, they must not have liked me”
  10. Do you shop early or last minute? “Last minute, I have to wait and save my money”
  11. Hardest person in your family to shop for? “My Mom, she never tells me if she needs anything, she always says don’t worry about it but she always does want something”
  12. If you had to pick either Kevin McCallister from Home Alone or Ralphie from a Christmas story to play in a defensive pair with?  “Kevin McCallister, that guy is slippery, he’d be all over the ice”
  13. Hot Chocolate or Egg Nog? “Hot Chocolate”
  14.  If you could get one gift this year what would it be? “Just Cash”
