Aston, PA –The Philadelphia Little Flyers are proud to announce 1996 birth year forward, Oliver Arnberg, has committed to Nichols College for the fall of 2017 to continue his education and hockey career.  The 2016-17 season was a year of firsts for the 5’7” 165LB native of Nynashmns, Sweden, as Arnberg was playing In his first season of hockey in the United States.  Nichols College is located in Dudley Massachusetts; the Bison are coached by Parker Burgess.  The Nichols College Bison NCAA Division 3 Men’s Ice Hockey program competes in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) against other programs in the New England area.  “I am very proud of Oliver for his commitment to Nichols.  He did a great job of adjusting to North American hockey along with being a part of a new culture.  Oliver was a big part of our success this season and will do a great job both athletically and academically for Coach Burgess” said Little Flyers EHL General Manager and Head Coach Rocky Russo.  Early in the season you could tell there was going to be a learning curve to the style of play in North America as Arnberg registered one point in the Little Flyers first seven games.  As he got more comfortable and made some adjustments, Arnberg exploded offensively, putting up 15 points (8 Goals, 7 Assists) in the teams next 9 games on the way to earning EHL Stars of the Week honors for 10/19-10/23.

“I'd first like to thank my family; they have helped me so much along the way so I can follow my dreams.  My parents and relatives have been my biggest supporters throughout my life, especially this year while I've been playing in the United States, without them I don't think this year would have been as successful as it was.  Also, I’d like to thank my family, friends and cousins for coming over seas to watch my games, it means a lot.  I'd like to thank all of my coaches back in Sweden who have put in the time and effort to get me here today.  Special thank you to Coach Russo, Coach Lewis and Coach Catron for helping me get better every day while I was in Philadelphia.  I had some great teammates who helped me along this year, Thank You Guys, I hope to see you all again soon.  Thank You to the Giacobbo family and the entire Little Flyers organization for everything you’ve done for me and the team.  Lastly, I would like to say thank you to Nichols College Head Coach Parker Burgess for giving me this great opportunity.  Nichols College is a great school that I think fits me perfectly.  I am very thankful for the opportunity to attend college in the U.S. and I’m excited to get on the ice and play NCAA hockey at a highly competitive level with the Bison” said Arnberg upon revealing his college decision.

Arnberg’s first season in the United States was a successful one, playing in 58 games for the 2016-17 EHL regular Season Champions, scoring 23 goals and adding 27 assists for 50 points.  As the season progressed so did Arnberg, contributing to the Little Flyers power play (6 Goals, 9 Assists) and playing a role on the teams penalty killing units.  In addition to the October recognition, Arnberg was named to the EHL’s Stars of the Week for the second time during the season after tallying 5 points (3 Goals, 2 Assists) in a weekend sweep of the Jr. Wolfpack to earn the honors for the week of January 20th.  On behalf of the entire Little Flyers Organization we wish Oliver the best of luck this fall as he begins his freshman year at Nichols College.
