Little Flyers Weekly Roundup 9/9 & 9/10

Aston, Pa – Here is a look back at this past weekend’s games for all Little Flyers teams for September 9th & 10th 2017 at the youth hockey level in AYHL action.

10U Squirt Minor 08 (NEXT GAME: SAT 9/16 @ North Jersey Avalanche)  
SAT 9/9 -  Squirt Minor Little Flyers lost a close game 6-5 to the New Jersey Colonials.  Emmett Wheatley 3 point (2G, 1A) and Aiden Delfin (1G,2A) both had three point games to lead the Little Flyers offensively.  Keane Naugle made 14 saves in net.

SUN 9/10 – In the second game of the weekend, The NJ Colonials got on the board early in the first period for a 1-0 lead.  The Colonials were able to add to their lead at the 9:18 mark of the third period and held on for the 2-0 win.  The Little Flyers outshot the Colonials 24-17. 

 12U Pee Wee 05 (NEXT GAME: SAT 9/16 & SUN 9/17 @ CT Chiefs)
SAT 9/9
– The 2005 team opened the season against the always tough Long Island Royals 05 team.   Ryan Harris was busy in net for the Little Flyers, as he made 38 saves on 45 shots in the game.  Two quick goals at the beginning of the third period sealed the game for the Royals who won 7-0

SUN 9/10 -  The 05 team traveled to New Jersey for a Sunday game against the Colonials.  Cody Butikis, made 41 saves on 51 shots, in net for the Little Flyers in the 10-0 loss. 

16U American 01/02 (NEXT GAME: SUN 9/17 @ Virtua)      

SUN 9/10 – The 16U American team played a double header on Sunday.  The first game was against the Long Island Royals.  Jacob McDonald and Tim Crane scored for the Little Flyers and Zachary Wellman made 18 saves on 23 in the 5-2 loss. 

In the second game of the day, the Little Flyers welcomed the New York Saints to IceWorks.  Tim Crane’s two points (1G, 1A) led the way offensively for Philadelphia, Landers Masterson and Enrique Espinoza each scored a goal as the Little Flyers won 3-2.  Tyler Cassidy picked up the win in net with a 28 save performance.

16 U Elite 01/02 (NEXT GAME: SUN 9/17 @ Virtua)

SUN 9/10 –
Stan Wheeler’s 22 save shutout performance led the Little Flyers to a 3-0 win in the season opener against the New York Saints.  Vinny Starzi scored a goal late in the first period to give the Little Flyers a 1-0 lead.  Cameron Chandler scored twice; a power play goal in the second period and an even strength goal in the third, Jeff Leap had two assists in the game.  The Saints outshot the Little Flyers 22-12 in the game but couldn’t solve Wheeler and the Little Flyers defense.
