Ochterbeck Named EHL Alternate Captain

Aston, Pa – On Friday September 15, 2017 Little Flyers EHL Head Coach & General Manager George Lewis, announced that forward Alex Ochterbeck (Dallas,TX) has been named alternate captain for the 2017-18 Eastern Hockey League Season.   “Alex is a lead by example guy.   He’s one of the better offensive players in the locker room and we are expecting him to contribute for us in all aspects of the game.  He’s been known to be a little bit of a quiet kid but when Alex speaks up everyone listens to him.  He is going to be a great representative for our team and our organization” said Head Coach George Lewis upon naming Ochterbeck Alternate Captain.  Ochterbeck joins the leadership group of Trevor Lewandoski and Joey Savel who were named Co-Captains last week. 

                Alex Ochterbeck, a 5’11” 1997 birth year forward from Dallas, Texas enters his second season with the Little Flyers organization.  Ochterbeck played in 55 total games during the 2016-17 season, which included a trip to the EHL Finals.  In those 55 games, Ochterbeck scored 21 goals and added 22 assists for 43 total points.  “This is a great honor for me; it means a lot that Coach Lewis and the staff chose me as an Alternate Captain.  I’m going to continue to come in everyday and work hard to set a good example for the boys” said Ochterbeck after learning the news of his new role with the team.  Being a second year player, Ochterbeck gained a worlds worth of experience last season with a team that won 30 straight games, lost game 1 in the first round of playoffs and then made it to the EHL Finals.  “Alex learned a lot of good habits last season and gained a lot of important experience that he can pass along to this new group of Little Flyers players.  We are looking at him as a leader on and off the ice” said Coach Lewis.  In 11 playoff games, Ochterbeck tallied 14 points (7 Goals, 7 Assists) “The EHL season is a long one, last years’ experience was big for me and I learned a lot that will be able to help our guys through some obstacles throughout the season.  Things like taking care of your body the right way and being detail oriented each day are important if you want to have a successful season” expressed Ochterbeck.  In two games this season, Ochterbeck has four points (2 Goals, 2 Assists) including the game winning goal in the opening game of the season.
