Little Flyers Weekly Roundup 9/23 & 9/24

Aston, Pa – Here is a look back at this past weekend’s games for all Little Flyers teams for September 23rd & 24th  2017 at the youth hockey level in AYHL action.

10U Squirt Minor 08 (NEXT AYHL GAME:  SUN 10/1 HOME vs Long Island Gulls)
SAT 9/23 -  The Little Flyers fell to Virtua Hockey on the road by a final score of 10-2 on Saturday.  Sam Flood and Tyler Newby provided the offense for the Little Flyers, each scoring a goal.  Keane Naugle made 19 saves in net for the Little Flyers.

SUN 9/24 –The Little Flyers bounced back in a big way on Sunday, defeating the Jr. Flyers 5-1 in a home game at IceWorks.  The scoring was balanced as five different players scored.  Tyler Newby, Sam Flood, Dylan Orr, Emmett Wheatley and Nash Grant each lit the lamp for the Little Flyers.  Grant Gale made 19 saves in net to pick up the win.   

12U Pee Wee 05 (NEXT AYHL GAME:  10/14 @New Jersey Jr. Titans)
SAT 9/23
– The Little Flyers and North Jersey Avalanche skated to a 4-4 tie Saturday.  Nick Jarmain and Matthew Moser scored two goals each for the Little Flyers.  Ryan Harris made 20 saves in net for the Little Flyers. 

SUN 9/24 –  Casey Johnson scored a natural hat trick for the Little Flyers, Auggie Pescatore added a goal of his own but it was not enough as the Little Flyers lost a close game to the Valley Forge Minutemen on the road on Sunday.  Cody Butikis made 11 saves and Ryan Harris made 17 saves in net. 

14U Bantam 03 – (NEXT AYHL GAME: 10/14 @ CT RoughRiders)

SAT 9/23 – Little Flyers opened the season with a 4-1 victory against the Mercer Chiefs on the road.  Alex Scimeca scored two goals, Gavin Long and Connor Cain each added a goal of their own.  Liam Cunningham made 17 saves to pick him his first win of the season.  Later in the day the Little Flyers traveled to Mennen Sports Arena for a game against the always tough New Jersey Colonials.  The Colonials won the game is decisive fashion, 17-0.  The Little Flyers split time in net with Ryan Burgess making 16 saves and Liam Cunningham making 27.   

SUN 9/24 - The Little Flyers looked to bounce back on Sunday with a game against the Long Island Gulls.  Alex Scimeca scored a first period goal for the Little Flyers that was assisted by Michael Henry.  The Gulls took the lead scoring back to back goals under two minutes apart in the second period.  Liam Cunningham kept the Little Flyers in the game throughout, making 27 saves. 

16U American 01/02 (NEXT AYHL GAME: 10/14 @ New York Saints)

SUN 9/24 – The Little Flyers offense was firing on all cylinders as they defeated Virtua Hockey 9-2.  Lucas Summers scored a hat trick and added two assists for a five point game.  Jacob McDonald, Graham Kline, Louis DeCola, Parker King, and Tim Crane (2) all scored for the Little Flyers as well.  Tyler Cassidy picked up the win in net with a 28 save performance.    

16 U Elite 01/02 ( NEXT AYHL GAME: @Oaks vs Long Island Gulls Premier)
SUN 9/23 –
The Little Flyers fell behind early as Team Maryland scored four first period goals.  Joseph Arlotta scored the lone goal for the visiting Little Flyers in the second period.  Team Maryland added two more goals in the third period to win by a final score of 6-1.  Team Maryland outshot Philadelphia 41-25, Maxim Hunt made 35 saves for the Little Flyers.
