Scott, Sharkey & Creenan Called Up To EHL Team

Aston, PA --  With only one game on the schedule this past weekend, the Little Flyers EHL Premier team looked to with their 3rd consecutive game heading into the EHLP’s first showcase of the season.  On Sunday, the Little Flyers hosted the Valley Jr. Warriors, their first opponent from the North Conference.

Reigning Goalie of the Week, Ryan Creenan got the start in net for the Little Flyers.  Little Flyers defenseman Eric Maard got the scoring started 13:12 into the first period with a snap shot high over the Jr. Warriors goaltender’s shoulder.  Maard’s goal would hold up as the only scoring of the first period as the Little Flyers defense and Creenan held Valley to just six shots on goal even though the visitors had two power play chances in the period.

With the Little Flyers shorthanded :23 into the second period, the EHL Premier’s two leading scorers Kyle Scott and Ryan Sharkey extended the lead with some tic tac toe passing on a 2-on-1 that Sharkey scored on.  While on the same man advantage, Valley was finally able to capitalize on a power play chance and scored to cut the Little Flyers lead back to one.  Twenty seconds late, the Little Flyers answered back, Dylan Frasher battled for a rebound in front of the net and scored his third goal of the season, Maard was credited with an assist on the play.  With three goals scored in the first 1:44 of the second period, it was shaping up to be a wild one.  Valley once again cut the Little Flyers lead back to one with an even strength goal from Danny Ryan, his second of the game.  Frasher had the answer again for the home team, scoring his second goal of the game with a shot from the slot; Frasher’s goal was assisted by Kyle Scott and the newest Little Flyer Patrick Swain.  Less than a minute later, the league’s top goal scorer Kyle Scott lit the lamp for the Little Flyers with his 16th goal of the season.  Before the end of the period, Valley scored their second power play goal of the game.  In the period, the two teams combined for seven goals and nine penalties.

With a 5-3 lead in the third period, Sharkey provided the final scoring of the day for the Little Flyers.  Sharkey took a pass from Eric Maard up the left side and fired a shot far side to beat the Jr. Warriors goalie.  The goal was Sharkey’s ninth of the season.  Ryan Creenan picked up his second win of the season with 18 saves.

The Little Flyers will hit the road for the first EHL Premier Showcase of the season in Brewster, New York this weekend.  They will face off against the New England Wolves on Saturday, the 8-0 Vermont Lumberjacks on Sunday and finish the weekend off with a rematch against the Valley Jr. Warriors.

Scott, Sharkey, Creenan Called Up To EHL Team

With the Little Flyers EHL Premier team off on Saturday, EHL head coach George Lewis took the opportunity to take a closer look at the EHLP's top two scorers, Kyle Scott and Ryan Sharkey who were added to the EHL team’s roster prior to the start of the Avalanche game.  The EHLP’s reigning Goalie of the Week Ryan Creenan was also added to the EHL roster for the Avalanche game to serve as the emergency backup to Brendahn Brawley.  “We’ve had several guys from the Premier team come in and help us out at practice so far this year, Ryan Creenan, Kyle Scott, Ryan Sharkey, Eric Maard and a few others.  We saw this as an opportunity to give Kyle [Scott] and Ryan [Sharkey] a shot, they’ve been lighting up the Premier league so far this season.  They came in and did a really good job for us on Saturday; they kept things simple and fit right in with our guys.  As a staff we were happy with them” said Little Flyers EHL Head Coach and General Manager George Lewis when asked about the EHL Premier team call ups.
