EHL: Galvin Commits to Wilkes University

Set to Join Colonels in Fall 2018

Aston,PA — The Philadelphia Little Flyers are proud to announce 1997 birth year Forward Ryan Galvin, has committed to Wilkes University to continue his education and hockey career beginning in the fall of 2018.  Wilkes University located in Wilkes-Barre,PA will play it’s inaugural season as an NCAA DIII program during the 2018-19 campaign.  “Our staff is very proud of Ryan for committing to Wilkes University” said Little Flyers EHL General Manager and Head Coach George Lewis.  Lewis continued “Ryan came to us this season with an abundance of experience and has gone above and beyond our expectations.  He has played in every situation for us this season and has succeeded in all of them.”  In May of 2017 Brett Riley, was named the Head Coach of the Colonel’s and has been on the recruiting trail ever since to build a competitive team for when the team hits the ice in mid October.  The Wilkes University Colonels will play their home games and practice at the Toyota SportsPlex at Coal Street Park.  
 

     “I'm really excited to commit to Wilkes University to continue my academic and hockey career.  I want to thank Coach Riley for giving me this great opportunity, I can't wait to be a part of the new program and join the Colonel community.  I'd like to thank my parents for supporting me all my life and giving me every opportunity to keep playing hockey.  I'd like to thank all my coaches who have helped me get to this point including Coach St. Jacques in Atlanta, Coach Warde and Coach Moore at Bridgton Academy.  Lastly, I want to especially thank Coach Lewis, Coach Narrigan, Coach Catron, The Giacobbo Family, and the entire Little Flyers organization for giving me the opportunity to play here. This season with the Little Flyers has really helped me develop as player and as a person.  I look forward to getting on campus in September and becoming a Colonel.” Said Galvin upon announcing his commitment on Wednesday.  

     The 6’1” Forward from Atlanta, GA has played in 44 EHL games with the Little Flyers this season and currently ranks 4th on the team with 38 Points (15 Goals, 23 Assists).  While Galvin has been a key contributor offensively he has also played on the penalty kill and has come through in the clutch, scoring three Game Winning Goals.  “Ryan was a tremendous addition to our group as a 20 year old and I know he will be a great addition to the new Wilkes program.  He is a young man that we have a lot of respect for and we’re excited to continue to watch him develop as a hockey player and a person at the next level” Lewis added when speaking of Galvin.

 

     Galvin is the second Little Flyer to make his college commitment this season, Defenseman Cale Coor committed to Southern New Hampshire in November.  Several other players are expected to announce their College commitments in the coming weeks.  The Little Flyers as a whole have their sights set on finishing the final four regular season games left on their regular season schedule.
