Vogt Set to Join Pioneers in the Fall

Aston, PA – The Philadelphia Little Flyers, Members of the Eastern Hockey League are proud to announce 1997 birth year forward, Ryan Vogt will attend William Paterson University in the fall of 2018 to continue his education and hockey career.  Vogt, a 5’10” forward from Springfield, PA has been a lifelong Little Flyer, coming through the youth program and playing two years on the EHL team.  The William Paterson University Pioneers will make the jump to ACHA D1 competition for the 2018-19 season after a very successful run at the division 2 level.  William Paterson University is located in Wayne, New Jersey about a two hour drive from Philadelphia.  “We’re very proud of Ryan on his decision to attend William Paterson University this fall.  Ryan returning to the Little Flyers early in the season was one of the best things that could’ve happened for our team.  He brought a hard working veteran mentality to our group and he’s a great guy to be around who everyone loves.  He played in every game after rejoining the team and contributed in many situations.  After a lengthy decision process Ryan decided the academic fit of Willie P was something he couldn’t pass up” said Little Flyers EHL Head Coach and General Manager George Lewis.

“I couldn't have been happier to call myself a lifelong Little Flyer.  There are so many people to thank over the past 14 years, but first and foremost is my family.  All of the time and effort they have invested in me cannot be thanked enough, and might take a lifetime to repay them.  Next, I would like to thank all my friends and teammates who have pushed each other to succeed, not just on the ice, but off the ice as well.  I give special thanks to Kevin Gentile, Andrew Burke, Jason Kilcoyne, John Giacobbo and Stephane Charbonneau for all pushing me to be the best player I can be.  I give huge thanks to the entire Little Flyers EHL coaching staff in Coach Lewis, Coach Catron and Coach Narrigan, for going out on a limb to help all of us succeed and push us to the next level.  No matter if we were down or battling through adversity, they always had our backs.  I cannot wait for this fall, when I get the opportunity to continue my hockey, and more importantly, educational career at William Paterson University.  This wouldn’t have been possible without Coach Bellance, Coach Wynne and Coach Michaelchuck and their incredible hospitality.  Finally, I give enormous thanks to the entire Giacobbo family for enabling me to play for such a top-notch organization my whole life.  These were some of the best years of my life, and I wouldn't trade them for anything!  As one chapter ends, another begins, and I cannot wait to become a Pioneer come fall" said Vogt after making his college decision.

As mentioned by Coach Lewis,Vogt stepped into a much bigger role for this year’s team, playing on a high energy line with Ricky Walsh and Mitchell Hall for most of the season.  In 34 regular season games, Vogt scored 6 goals and added 8 assists.  He was huge for the Little Flyers in their first round playoff series against the Connecticut Oilers, scoring three goals in two games and being named TSR Hockey Top Performer of the series.  “Coach Michaelchuck is extremely excited to get Ryan on campus in the fall and I’m excited to see the big contribution he provides for their program.  Ryan will be very difficult to replace here in Philly, but we wish him the best of luck and looks forward to continue seeing him around IceWorks.” concluded Lewis.  Vogt, can be regularly seen around the Little Flyers home rink of Premier Orthopaedics IceWorks Skating Complex as he works in the pro shop in addition to teaching camps and clinics on the rinks Hockey Staff.
