Second Year Defenseman to Lead Team in 2018-19

Aston, PA – On Wednesday, Little Flyers EHL Premier Head Coach Mark Catron officially named Ryan Baccino the team’s Captain for the 2018-19 season.  The 6’2” 180lb 1999 birth year defenseman from Middletown, Delaware enters his second year with the Little Flyers EHL Premier team “Naming Ryan as our captain was an easy decision for me.  Not just for on ice talent but because of what he is in our locker room.  I’ve known Ryan for a while now and he has always been a real high character kid” said Little Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Mark Catron.  In 32 games last season, Baccino scored three goals and added four assists while accumulating 40 penalty minutes.  Two of Baccino’s three goals last season were scored on the power play.

“Being named the captain of this team is a great honor for me; there are a lot of good guys in our locker room with a lot of on ice talent.  I really appreciate Coach Catron and Coach Narrigan naming me the captain.  I know it’s important to lead by example both on and off the ice.  With last year being my first junior season I got to see how some of our guys handled themselves and I know with good leadership this season and hard work we can be a very successful team” said Baccino after being named Captain.  Baccino and his teammates took three of four points from the Central Penn Panthers this past weekend, winning 4-2 on home ice Saturday and falling to the Panthers in overtime on Sunday.  “If Ryan wasn’t a first year player last year he probably would have been our captain as well.  What Ryan does in that locker room is he leads by example but he’s a voice the other guys listen to, he isn’t a rah rah kind of guy, just a take care of your own business and be accountable guy” concluded Catron when speaking of his newly named captain.

Baccino and his Little Flyers Premier teammates have this weekend off but will hit the road September 22nd and September 23rd when they travel to Newington Arena for a weekend series against the Ct Chiefs.
