EHL Premier: Burke Blanks Renegades in Weekend Series

Aston, PA – Graham Burke, led the Little Flyers EHL Premier team to a two game sweep of the New Jersey Renegades this past weekend.  The 2001 birth year goaltender from Baton Rouge, Louisiana picked up his second and third shutouts of the season with 5-0 and 10-0 wins.  On Saturday, the Little Flyers and Renegades were tied 0-0 after the first period; Tyler Marvil broke the scoreless tie with a shorthanded goal midway through the second period.  Marvil’s goal was assisted by the Little Flyers leading scorer Patrick Swain.  Johnny Scarduzio extended the lead with an even strength goal with a helper from Austin Mazzulo.

                Nick Bouchard, scored the Little Flyers second shorthanded goal of the game seven minutes into the third period.  Johnny Scarduzio added his second goal of the game this time on the power play, with Mazzulo picking up his second assist of the game.  Shane Green put the game out of reach with the Little Flyers second power play goal of the game.  Sam Clapinson and Patrick Swain picked up assists on the Green goal.  Burke finished the game with 12 total saves.

                In game two of the weekend series on Sunday, Burke was lights out once again, keeping the Renegades off the scoreboard with a 26 save shutout.  Brett Turner opened the scoring just over four minutes into the game with an unassisted goal.  Four minutes later, Sam Clapinson scored a power play goal assisted by Tyler Marvil and Lukas Vopat.  In the closing minutes of the first period, Nick Bouchard and Dan Mundy doubled the Little Flyers lead to 4-0 after the first twenty minutes of play.  Mundy’s goal was assisted by Bouchard and Sebastian Romeniecki.  Johnny Scarduzio scored his third goal of the weekend with an unassisted goal.  Nick Bouchard’s second goal of the game came at the 8:22 mark of the second period with assists from Ryan Sharkey and Patrick Swain.  The Little Flyers held a 6-0 lead after two periods.

                Patrick Swain added to the lead 1:15 into the third period assisted by Steve Rubillo.  Sam Clapinson, Austin Mazzulo and Brett Turner capped the scoring in the game for the Little Flyers to win the game 10-0.  On the weekend, Burke collected two shutout wins while making 38 saves.  In the two games played, Philadelphia out shot New Jersey 96-38.
