Aston, PA -  Philadelphia Little Flyers alumni, Brett Abdelnour announced his NCAA Division 1 commitment to Army West Point on Tuesday.  Abdelnour, currently plays for the Amarillo Bulls in the North American Hockey League under former Little Flyers coaches Rocky Russo and George Lewis.  Abdelnour played the 2016-17 season with the EHL Little Flyers in his first season of junior hockey before moving up to Amarillo in the NAHL.

The 5’9” 171lb left handed forward from Macomb, Michigan played in 46 regular season games during the 2016-17 campaign, scoring 8 goals and adding 13 assists, two of Abdelnour’s goals were game winners.  In the EHL postseason which saw the Little Flyers fall to rival Philadelphia Jr. Flyers in a five game championship series, Abdelnour scored one goal with four assists.  In two seasons with the Bulls, Abdelnour has 58 points in 96 career games and was recently named an Assistant Captain.  While he has improved his skills in the NAHL, Abdelnour didn’t forget where he got his junior hockey career started, “The fact that both Pete (Alex Peterson) and I got our deals done is amazing and it proves that the EHL is a much better league than people give it credit for” he told Amaraillo Bulls.com.

As mentioned by Abdelnour, he and Little Flyers Alumni Alex Peterson have both made their Division I NCAA College commitments after developing in the Eastern Hockey League then taking advantage of the opportunity to move up to the NAHL.  On behalf of everyone in the Little Flyers organization we’d like to congratulate Brett and his family on his NCAA Division 1 commitment.
