Aston, PA -- The Philadelphia Little Flyers, members of the Eastern Hockey League are proud to announce 1998 birth year defenseman, Nick Daluisio has committed to attend the University of Massachusetts-Boston in the fall of 2019 to continue his education and hockey career.  Daluisio, a 6’2” 185lb native of Aston, PA is in his second full season on the EHL team but is a lifelong Little Flyer, spending his youth hockey days in the black and orange.  In his first season of Junior hockey last year, Daluisio played in 44 games scoring four goals and handing out 11 assists.  “Nick’s confidence in his game this year has been big for him and us.  Last year he played some big minutes down the stretch and had to step up in pressure situations and performed well.  This year he has been confident from the opening puck drop of game one that led him to being named an EHL All-Star.  His performance during All-Star weekend was on eye opener to a lot of people, including myself to be honest against two really good college programs.  One of those games being at UMass Boston gave Coach Belisle and his staff a chance to see Nick for an entire game up close which really helped him commit to the school he wanted to go to.  As a leader this year Nick has been great on and off the ice, him and Ziki (Mroz) have done a good job keeping our guys focused.  Mike (Narrigan) and I are proud of Nick and know he is going to do good things once he gets to UMass” said Little Flyers EHL Head Coach and General Manager Mark Catron.  As Coach Catron mentioned, Daluisio upped his game in all areas this season.  In 43 Games played, Nick scored 12 goals and added 50 assists, his point total of 62 ranks 7th in the EHL and 2nd amongst defenseman (Defensive partner Ziki Mroz ranks first).

“I am proud to announce my commitment to the University of Massachusetts-Boston for the fall of 2019.  I first would like to thank my family, without their endless support and constant perseverance through hardships; I would not be the person I am today.  Also, I would like thank Coach Catron, Coach Narrigan, the whole Little Flyers organization, and the Giacobbo family for making my junior hockey career successful and getting me prepared for college.  Next, I’d like to thank Coach Russo and Coach Lewis for their pivotal part in this process as well.  Finally, I’d like to thank Coach Belisle and Coach Schneider for the opportunity to join a high class university and program like theirs” said Daluisio earlier this week after making his commitment.

Along with getting named an EHL All-star earlier in the season,  Daluisio earned two separate call ups to the North American Hockey League’s Amarillo Bulls.  The Little Flyers finished the season with an impressive 40-3-1 record, setting a new EHL record for win percentage (.909), Goals for (246), Goals Against (73) and Penalty Kill (90.8%).  Daluisio and his defensive partner Mroz, led the Little Flyers to the stingiest defense in league history, giving up 1.65 goals against per game in front of Brendahn Brawley and Tommy McLarnon in net.  On behalf of the entire Little Flyers Organization we congratulate Nick on his college commitment and thank him for everything he has done in the Little Flyers uniform.
