19U Girls - Head Coach - Ken Deming

Coach Deming, enters his second season with the U19 program. Ken will also be returning as Head Coach, 11th season, with the University of Delaware Women’s Hockey Program. Ken grew up in Bellevue, OH playing Tier I / II hockey along with playing 3 years in the ACHA with IUP, Indiana University of PA, prior to joining the United States Marine Corps. Ken spent 6 years in the USMC and is a veteran serving 13 months in Operation Desert Storm.

Ken has established the University of Delaware Women’s Hockey Team as one of the top ACHA women’s programs in the country. Some accomplishments include being ranked #1 in the ACHA Eastern Region for the 2017-18 season, qualified for Nationals 8 of the last 10 years, league championship game 2 of last 3 season and coaching academic and athletic All Americans. With Deming behind the bench, the Blue Hens have compiled a 58-17-3. Coach Deming, currently serves as the Vice President for the ACHA Women's D2 Division, Level 4 USA Hockey Certified Coach and Level 3 USA Hockey Certified Official. Coach Deming is excited for his second season with the goal to help develop the program and players mirroring the success seen at Delaware. Ken resides in Smyrna. DE.

16U Girls - Head Coach - Jordan Grant

Coach Grant, enters his fourth season with the Little Flyers Girls program, leading the U16 team to a great 2020-21 season, finishing at the top of the MAWHA standings.  He played his entire minor hockey in Alberta, Canada.  He played for two years in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and subsequently played his collegiate hockey at Clarkson University in Division One of the NCAA.  He retired from playing hockey in 1998 and has coached hockey ever since.  Following his playing career he went on to the University of Pennsylvania and obtained his Dental degree.  In his spare time he spends time with his wife Jennifer and their three children. His hobbies include fitness training, golf, snowboarding and fishing in Ocean City, Nj. during the summer.  Coach Grant is currently a level 3 USA Hockey Certified Coach

16U Girls - Head Coach - Katie Smith

Enters her second season with Little Flyers, her first was as an Associate Head Coach for the 19U team. Katie spent her youth playing for the Quakers organization on both boys and girls teams as well as being an inaugural member of the Quakers Girls and Haverford Girls teams. In college, she played for the University of Delaware Women’s team. During her 20+ year playing career, she has been a multi year MVP, Captain, and All-Star. Katie has also helped lead her teams to championships and Nationals.

Katie began coaching in 2012 with the Quakers Girls 14u. She continued to coach within the Quakers between 16u and 19u until 2016. She returned to her Alma Matter as an Assistant Coach in 2016 and enters her 5th year this fall. While coaching at UD, the team has qualified for Nationals and League championships for 3 consecutive years. She is currently a Level 4 USA Certified Coach.

14U Girls - Head Coach - Lauren Patterson

Coach Patterson joins the Little Flyers Coaching staff for the 2021-22 season, bringing with her many years of playing and coaching experience.  The Ridley, Pa native began playing hockey at a young age, playing on mostly all boys teams growing up.  In high school, Lauren was a three time all-star, three time team MVP and was one of the first goalies and currently only female in the Ridley Hockey Hall of Fame.  Lauren began coaching at the age of 16, with the Ridley elementary and middle school programs, helping to lead them to 6 championships over 8 seasons.  In college, Lauren spent time on both the West Chester University women’s D2 team and men’s D1 club team.  Her professional career began in 2012, being drafted by the Boston Blades in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.  After her professional days, Lauren transitioned into coaching girls hockey with the West Chester Quakers U16 team.  After spending time with the Quakers, Lauren helped develop the Lehigh Valley girls hockey program which she expanded to three teams after two seasons.  This led to Lauren becoming the Director of Hockey Operations for the Lady Patriots, expanding the organization from 3 teams to 11 teams in five seasons, with her U12 team being one of the top ranked teams in the country at the girls Tier 2 level.  Lauren is looking forward to helping to develop players of all ages and skill levels to help advance them to the next level in a competitive but fun environment.  Coach Patterson is thrilled to be returning “home” to IceWorks and the Little Flyers Organization.

14U Girls - Assistant Coach - Grace Klienbach

Coach Klienback joins the Philadelphia Little Flyers Organization as the U14 Girls Head Coach as well as Little Flyers Girls Hockey Program Director.  A native of Eustis, FL, Grace played for the Boston Shamrocks in the JWHL prior to committing to play NCAA hockey with Neumann University, where she captained the team during her Junior and Senior years.  During her time as an NCAA Student-Athlete, Grace earned Dean’s List Honors from 2013 through 2017, was a Presidential Scholarship recipient (2013-2017), a three-time ECAC West All-Academic Team Member, and was named Most Valuable Player in 2016-17. 

After graduating in 2017, Grace was drafted to the Toronto Fury in the CWHL, but elected to sign her first pro contract with the Connecticut Whale in the NWHL. In just her second season with the Whale, she was named an NWHL All Star. Along with playing in the All Star Game, she participated in the fastest skater in the skills competition.  Grace signed for a third professional season and played in the NWHL Bubble in January 2021.

14U Girls - Head Coach - Matt DeNucci

Coach DeNucci returns to the Little Flyers for his third season as the head coach of the Philadelphia Little Flyers U12 Girls team.  Matt has been coaching hockey for six years, starting with Atoms in 2015.  In addition to coaching the Little Flyers 12U Girls team, Matt also coaches the Middle School team at Marple Newtown and severs as the President of the Marple Newton Ice Hockey Club.  Coach DeNucci is a USA Hockey CEP Level 4.  In the Spring you can find Matt on the soccer field coaching girls elite level soccer where he is a U.S. Soccer National E License and has been coaching since 2011.

12U Girls - Head Coach - Mike Clevens

Coach Clevens returns for his fourth season coaching with the Little Flyers Girls Program, his first at the 12U level. In his second season behind the bench Clevens led the inaugural Girls 10U team to a MAWHA Playoff appearance and followed that up with a very successful second year at 10U. Mike is a native of Delaware County and started his playing career at The Haverford School. Mike has been involved in coaching teams and instructing clinics for over 8 years, five of which have been focused on the girls at the 8U, 10U, 14U and 16U levels. Mike is one of 75 participants who have completed USA Hockey’s only symposium on Skill Development in Female Athletes, and is a level four USA Hockey Certified Coach. Mike and his wife Tracy reside in Wilmington, DE with their three daughters, all hockey players.

10U Girls - Head Coach - Darrell Fauver

Coach Fauver, a Little Flyers alumni in his playing days, enters his third season with the Little Flyers Girls program as a Head Coach.  This season, Coach Fauver will move to the 10U level after being a key component in the building of the Little Flyers girls program at the 8U level the past two years.  After playing for the Lehigh Calley Comets Junior team, Darrell played his college hockey at Drexel University where he was named League MVP in 2000.  After his playing days, Darrell jumped right into coaching with the Atlantic District 87’s, Little Flyers Bantam, Drexel University, Jr. Flyers Midget 16U and also served as a scout for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL.

10U Girls - Head Coach - Erin Dougherty

Coach Dougherty joins the Little Flyers coaching staff for the 2021-22 season.  Erin grew up primarily out of IceWorks Skating Complex, playing boys hockey with Delco Phantoms and Penncrest, and girls hockey with Strath Haven and the West Chester Quakers.  Erin went to St. Joseph's University where she served as the VP, then President of the Women's Ice Hockey program.  During her time at SJU, Erin led the team in points three out of four seasons, and in her senior year she led the league in points and her team to an undefeated season.  Upon graduating in 2019, she began her coaching career with the Lady Patriots U12AA helping elevate the team to the highest rankings in club history the last two seasons.  "Growing up, Ice Works was like a second home to me, so I am beyond excited to be joining the Little Flyers organization and developing players at the rink I know and love!"

8U Girls - Head Coach - Shane Porter

Coach Porter returns to the Little Flyers Coaching Staff for his third season with the Girls 8U program.  For the past six seasons, Shane has been instrumental in developing youth hockey players at the Mite level, coaching the Delco Dragons, Garnet Valley and Little Flyers.  Shane is also an instructor for the Learn to Play Program and Spring/Summer Mite Clinics.  Shane is currently a CEP level 3 Coach within USA Hockey.

8U Girls - Head Coach - CJ Trunk

Coach Trunk has been an assistant coach with the Little Flyers 8U girls program and a Learn to Play program instructor since 2019.  This will be CJ’s first season as a head coach for the 8U Little Flyers.  With over 15 years of playing experience, CJ will bring a lot of knowledge and experience to the grassroots of the Little Flyers Organization.
